John Cena is widely regarded as one of the greatest microphone workers of all time. He is very compelling on the stick, tells a great story, and knows how to go off on his opponents when he has to. It appears that the Hollywood superstar gets his charisma from his father, who also used to work in the professional wrestling industry.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Ivar narrated a story about John Cena Sr., who used to work as a manager in a wrestling promotion. He cut a promo in front of 2500 people and openly said that he was a heel. However, for that night, he was a babyface.

‘Heel’ and ‘face’ are wrestling terminologies for bad guys and good guys at a wrestling show. Such insider terminologies are rarely used in front of fans at public events. When John Cena heard his father using these terms on the monitor, he said out loud that his father was killing the business.

In the modern wrestling world, the use of such terms has become much more normalized, albeit still not on TV. Kayfabe has been considered dead for a long time. Furthermore, social media and news reports have given fans huge insights into the behind-the-scenes of the wrestling world.

Fans need not worry, as this retirement tour will not be the last time they see Cena in WWE. While he would likely not wrestle again, he will continue to be a part of the promotion going forward. In fact, he has already signed an extension with the company that goes beyond 2025.
