Ja Morant‘s days with the Memphis Grizzlies are numbered. It appears that their relationship has run its course. It has been a difficult 2025-26 campaign for the Grizzlies. They are currently 10th in the Western Conference standings with a 17-22 record and are at risk of dropping out of the play-in spots, as they are just 0.5 games ahead of an in-form Los Angeles Clippers.
The club is in the midst of an international tour and is scheduled to take on the Orlando Magic in Berlin and London this week, which will be counted as regular-season games. It is a three-year slate of NBA games in Europe. Future games will be played in Manchester and Paris in 2027 and in Berlin and Paris in 2028.
Things have not gone according to plan, Ja Morant, this season. Drafted as the number two pick in the 2019 NBA draft, the 26-year-old has earned two All-Star selections, was awarded the Rookie of the Year in 2020, and won the Most Improved Player award in 2022. His explosiveness and athleticism made him a fan-favorite, and many believed that he was the future face of the league.
Riddled with injuries and constant off-court problems have contributed to his downfall over the last two seasons. Not so long ago, he was caught in a heated exchange with Klay Thompson, despite not taking the court on that day.
After the trade of Desmond Bane in the offseason, there have been reports that the Grizzlies may move on from Morant as well. Last week, NBA reporter Shams Charania reported that the Grizzlies are open to offers for Morant for the first time.
For all his shortcomings, the 26-year-old will still generate a lot of interest in the market. Not so long ago, Morant was seen as the face of a franchise and a future face of the NBA. The Miami Heat is one of the clubs that have been rumored to be interested in Morant’s services.
To add to the speculation, it has been reported that the guard has purchased a home in Miami for $3.2 million, according to Miami-Dade County property records.

While many are excited to see Morant in Heat colors, some are skeptical about the move.
Ja Morant shuts down question on trade rumors
After Giannis Antetokounmpo, Morant is arguably the second biggest star in the market. However, the Greek star has shut down the trade rumors and has committed himself to the Milwaukee Bucks. That leaves Morant as the biggest star to be traded, following the trade of Trae Young to the Washington Wizards.

Ahead of the Grizzlies’ game in Berlin, Morant spoke to the media for the first time since his name surfaced in NBA trade rumors. When asked if he expected to remain with the Grizzlies past the NBA trade deadline next month. Morant did not seem comfortable with the question.
I’m the only one you asked that question to? Who else you asked?
When the reporter responded in the affirmative. Morant said:
Next question.
While the real estate purchase is fueling speculation, it should also be noted that Antetokounmpo had invested in Brooklyn as well, but the Bucks star was quick to shut down any trade rumors.
