A major upset occurred at the Queen’s Club Championship as Carlos Alcaraz got beaten by homeboy Jack Draper in straight sets. The defending champion of this prestigious grass court tournament was usurped by the in-form Draper, who played one of his best games of the year.

Alcaraz, fresh off a win at the Roland Garros, was high on form as he headed onto the grass court. With two back-to-back tournaments to defend at, the Spaniard looked to gain more momentum before the highly anticipated Wimbledon and the Paris Olympics.

However, just as he was looking sharp at Queen’s he faced the in-form Draper, who was on a rampage against the World No. 2. Starting on equal footing, the players took the first set to a tie-break, where the Brit managed to sneak out a couple of crucial points before taking the first set.

After that, it was all Draper, as he secured the biggest win of his career, positioning himself with a good chance to win the title.

I had to come out and play well.
Jack Draper said after the victory

Despite dropping early points, the Brit fought back remarkably well to break Alcaraz’s eight-match win streak and finished the game in just over an hour and thirty minutes. With this win, Draper climbed to a career-high ranking of 28 in the PIF ATP rankings.

Both players came off winning streaks, but Alcaraz had an impressive 13 consecutive wins on grass. However, he was not at his best today and fell short against the Brit. The crowd was enthusiastic, cheering on their player throughout the match and rejoicing equally in his victory.

There's no place I'd rather be right now, my family, my friends. The British support, you guys are amazing and I want to keep on playing here.
said Jack Draper during the post-match interview.

He will now take on No. 5 seed Tommy Paul in the next round. With more of the tournament ahead, the Brit hopes to maintain his momentum and try to win his first title.
