Jack Draper has shared encouraging news about his fitness ahead of his US Open return.
The British No. 1 confirmed that he is ready to compete in New York later this month. He has been sidelined since his second-round loss to Marin Cilic at Wimbledon over a month ago.

His absence from both the Toronto and Cincinnati Masters affected his build-up for the final Grand Slam of 2025. Now, Draper says his injury problems are behind him. He is preparing to travel to America and resume competition. Draper said in an interview to LTA:

I found out I had an injury in my arm, which I had been playing with for a little while. The doctors and my team advised me that I’d need to take some time out. I had a few days off, so I chilled and took my mind off tennis. Then I was really motivated to come back and do a really good fitness block and work myself hard physically to make some good gains.

Draper will have ranking points to defend after reaching the US Open semi-finals last year. That deep run marked a breakthrough moment in his career. It also placed him among the top contenders on the tour. Draper added:

I got back to my tennis slowly to protect my arm, but it’s been a really productive few weeks now. It was disappointing to miss Toronto and Cincinnati, but I think it’s been a good period for me to reflect on things and improve. I’m really looking forward to going out to the US Open, and I’m in a great place personally and tennis-wise. I feel refreshed, motivated, and I can’t wait to get back out there.

If his arm is fully recovered, he will be a strong contender on the hard courts. His Indian Wells Masters title in March showed his ability on fast US surfaces. Many will see him as a real threat at this year’s event.

The world No. 6 has been away from competition due to an injury that forced him to miss both the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Open. Draper has been using the time to recover and prepare for his return to the court.

The British No. 1 has not competed since July 3, when he lost in the second round at Wimbledon. His absence has been felt on the ATP Tour as he continues his rehabilitation. Draper plans to return to action in three weeks at the US Open. He will make his comeback in mixed doubles, partnering with Paula Badosa for the event.

Jack Draper makes huge decision before the US Open

The US Open later this month will bring more than just world-class tennis. For many players and brands, it’s also a chance to showcase style on one of the sport’s biggest stages. Reports suggest Jack Draper is set to debut a new apparel deal with Vuori during the tournament, with training photos in fresh gear already making waves online.

Vuori is no stranger to tennis, having worked with players like Marcos Giron and Tristan Boyer. Adding Draper would mark a significant step for the brand. While no official announcement has been made, signs point to a launch in the coming weeks. Draper has also been spotted trying new footwear ahead of the event.

Since Vuori doesn’t make performance tennis shoes, Draper is expected to compete in ASICS, specifically the Solution Speed FF 3 model in a dark cobalt and white design. The move highlights a trend of top players moving away from Nike, which has recently lost Taylor Fritz to BOSS and Frances Tiafoe to lululemon.

Currently ranked No. 5 in the world, Draper holds a 29-9 record with one singles title this season. Beyond his on-court success, he has developed a growing reputation as a style figure in tennis. This comes as Nike continues to face criticism over its tennis apparel, despite Draper’s 2024 US Open kit being one of the rare designs fans actually praised.
