England were up against Finland in the Nations League on Sunday night as Lee Carsley‘s men bounced back from a loss against Greece earlier in the weekend. Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish and Declan Rice helped the Three Lions to a comfortable 3-1 win at Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

Following the game, Manchester City forward Jack Grealish revealed that he lost £500 when Trent Alexander-Arnold found the net from a sublime free-kick. Elaborating on the same, Grealish explained that he jokingly bet against the Liverpool star to score from the spot.

I told Trent before the free-kick : I’ll give you 500 quid if you score this. And then he’s gone and slapped it top bins.

Alexander-Arnold’s moment of brilliance came in the 74th minute, when Jude Bellingham was fouled outside the penalty area. The Liverpool man has a reputation for finding the net from free-kicks, although his goal against Finland came as a pleasant surprise for many in the stadium. Following the game, Alexander-Arnold was awarded the Player of the Match for a third consecutive time under Carsley.

Fans on social media were unforgiving as England lost their last game to Greece. With a narrow 1-0 lead, England continued to threaten the hosts until Alexander-Arnold finally found a breakthrough in the 74th minute. Arsenal man Declan Rice quickly made it 3-0 to put the game out of reach for the hosts. The midfielder poked in a goal from close range as he redirected a low cross from Ollie Watkins.

Following the game, manager Lee Carsley stated that his side managed to have more balance and control in comparison to their previous outing. He also argued that England are in need of a ‘world class’ manager and that he’s still on his way to being one. Carsley also gave a much-needed update on Bukayo Saka‘s injury, confirming that his setback isn’t ‘serious’.
