(Video) Jack Jones reminds Patrick Mahomes that they are not “intimidated” by him before Raiders-Chiefs SNF clash

Jack Jones is brimming with confidence even though he will have to play against the combination of Patrick Mahomes and DeAndre Hopkins.

Even though the first six games of the 2024 season are one of Patrick Mahomes’ worst-ever phases of his illustrious NFL career, the Kansas City Chiefs remain unbeaten. Coincidentally, this is the first time Mahomes has six wins from six at the start of a season.

Yet, as Nick Wright would point out, the Chiefs are basically playing without a limb and are still better than the rest. Mahomes throwing more interceptions compared to touchdowns may be an anomaly, but it can be down to the fact that he only had one out-and-out receiver, Xavier Worthy, for most games until they signed DeAndre Hopkins.

The Chiefs have been bailed out by their world-class defense, which has restricted teams to under 28 points for 27 consecutive games. With that in mind, Andy Reid’s team will face their arch-nemesis, the Las Vegas Raiders, on Sunday.

The Raiders are 2-5 this year, with Gardner Minshew barely making an impact in the absence of injured Aidan O’Connell in the quarterback spot. Regardless, it’s shaping up to be a thriller like always, and the fixture received even more fuel after the recent comments made by cornerback Jack Jones.

Jones hasn’t played much this year as head coach Antonio Pierce benched him citing lack of effort on and off the field. That did not deter him from firing warning shots at the Chief before Sunday’s fixture.

I’m not intimidated by him [Patrick Mahomes]. I don’t think anybody in this locker room is intimidated by him. There are good players all across the league. He is a good player. We see guys every week. We’re more focused on us than we are about him.

Patrick Mahomes discloses his real feelings about playing the Raiders

Even though Mahomes has shown flashes of brilliance on occasions, this year has been disappointing on a personal note for the 3x Super Bowl winner. Regardless of his choppy form, he is taking the Raiders game very seriously.

When you play a divisional opponent—like I’ve said in the past, [there] is a real rivalry between our two teams and our two organizations. You’re gonna get their best shot, and we’re gonna go out there and match that and let the best team win.

Patrick Mahomes said on Wednesday.

Mahomes has played the Raiders 10 times in his career, winning 8. However, the Chiefs lost the last fixture back in Christmas when Jack Jones picked Mahomes off twice, as the game ended with a 20-13 scoreline. The result mattered little in the grand scheme of things as the Chiefs went on to lift the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.
