Almost a year after the infamous backstage altercation, Jack Perry walked into AEW All In as the TNT Champion. Perry defended his title against Darby Allin in a Coffin Match. During the bout, The Elite member took a trip down memory lane, bringing out real glass. Of course, this was a reference to his legitimate scuffle with CM Punk at last year’s event.

As Perry supposedly took a jab at the altercation with The Second City Saint, the live crowd cheered him on. In fact, chants of “F*ck CM Punk” echoed throughout Wembley Stadium. However, Perry took too much time to gloat, as Allin capitalized and sent him through the glass. The Scapegoat suffered several cuts to his back. Regardless of that, he managed to walk out with his championship intact after shutting the coffin on his opponent.

Ahead of All In 2023, Jack Perry pitched an idea to use real glass in one of his matches. However, Punk, along with other officials, advised him against it. Despite that, the former AEW Tag Team Champion instigated the matter, mocking the veteran after using real glass. As such, the Best in the World confronted the young star about this, which led to him choking Perry.

The pair was separated, but the damage had already been done. Days later, AEW fired Punk from the company, while Perry was suspended indefinitely. Earlier this year, the promotion aired footage of the real-life fight during an episode of Dynamite. Although it initially received polarizing opinions, the angle helped set up Perry’s return at AEW Dynasty.

Wrestling fans react to Jack Perry’s subtle dig at CM Punk at AEW All In

As expected, Jack Perry’s introduction of ‘real glass’ into his match at All In garnered a lot of attention on social media. Some fans accused The Elite member of clinging on to referencing his incident with CM Punk. Moreover, they claimed that the latter couldn’t care less about Perry and his antics.

Other users found it normal for wrestlers to take shots similar to this, pointing out that Punk had done the same multiple times. Meanwhile, a few fans found the crowd cheering for Perry hilarious. Additionally, they pointed out how Punk was a babyface and heel in two different companies, alluding to the aforementioned chants.

Nonetheless, The Second City Saint has moved on quite well since his firing from AEW. Since returning to WWE, he has found his groove, recently competing in his first singles match for the company in over a decade. On the other hand, The Scapegoat will look to continue his dominant run as TNT Champion.
