The Jacksonville Jaguars intend to play the next two seasons at EverBank Stadium
The proposed timeline of the Jaguars indicates that the team will be playing the next two seasons at the EverBank Stadium. However, the 2026 season would witness a limited audience capacity of just 43,500 fans. In 2027, the team will be switching to an alternate venue, which remains to be decided at this point.
The team’s debut at the renovated stadium will take place in 2028. As per the renderings, the new venue will feature fixed roofs, a necessity given the harsh weather of Jacksonville. This will allow fans to enjoy games despite high temperatures during the day. Furthermore, to decrease the impact of heat, the stadium will be wrapped in reflective material.
The initial plan for the renovations included the team and the city council combining to pledge $300 million in the form of community benefits including funding for parks and the nearby Eastside neighborhood as per Ric Anderson of Jacksonville Daily Record. The city has vowed to put in $56 million towards the maintenance of riverfront parks while the Jaguars will be paying $119 million into the community over 30 years.
Another City Council vote is scheduled to take place next month for the approval of the pending $125 million. It will take place in July when the Council returns. Apart from the Jaguars, the Panthers also recently received approval for their stadium renovations as well.
