Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu won the WWE Tag Team Championship by beating DIY on the SmackDown before SummerSlam. Initial plans dictated that Tonga Loa would join forces with his former NJPW partner to represent The Bloodline. However, WWE changed directions and The Samoan Werewolf was crowned champion instead.

Jacob Fatu recently posted a photo on X featuring himself standing alongside the WWE Tag Team Champions. The post seemingly reasons that the Guerillas of Destiny are his family. For them and for his tribal chief, Solo Sikoa, he was more than willing to give up his WWE Tag Team Championship.

The latest episode of SmackDown featured Solo Sikoa stripping Fatu of the WWE Tag Team Championship. The 32-year-old wanted his newest stablemate to become his personal enforcer in his hunt for the WWE Undisputed Championship. Thus, he felt that the former MLW champion should be alleviated of his duties in the tag division.

There are many possible reasons why Fatu was stripped of the WWE Tag Team Championship. The most likely reason for this change is his leg injury, which he suffered at SummerSlam during the show’s main event. Since then, he has only been seen in a leg brace.

This change gives him some time off to recover from his injury. Even if he is showing up on SmackDown, he will only be required to carry out beatdowns as he did on Roman Reigns. Holding the title would likely have meant him having to wrestle full-length matches, hindering his recovery.

When Solo Sikoa asked Fatu to hand over his title to Tonga Loa, it created a great sense of curiosity in the live crowd and audience at home. Everyone had their own theories for why this decision was taken, and fans are still debating on social media.

That was good. But when he said hand your title to Tonga, everybody’s head started going, ‘Okay, where are we going here?’ And they could just see the future. It opens up a lot of doors.
