Jacob Fatu returned to WWE television for the first time in over a month on last night’s SmackDown and took out Drew McIntyre in the process. But what exactly led to that moment? At Wrestlepalooza, the ‘Scottish Psychopath’ failed to dispatch Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title. Consequently, he appeared on SmackDown and brought up the biased refereeing favoring ‘The American Nightmare’.

The Scot presented a couple of exhibits to verify his cause. At first, he noted how the referee was six seconds late for the count when he had Rhodes rolled up. Next, everyone saw how the referee came in McIntyre’s way when he was about to hit Rhodes with a Claymore kick through the hood of the commentary table.

The Ayr-born wrestler crashed his right leg into the table as Rhodes had gotten out of harm’s way in time, thanks to the match referee buying him some valuable seconds to recover. McIntyre went ballistic at that moment, which eventually cost him the world title. A crestfallen McIntyre even wondered if the referees work for WWE or if they work for Cody Rhodes.

Soon after that, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis made his way out and exhorted ‘The Chosen One’ to get over whining all the time. Aldis affirmed that he had known McIntyre for a long time, and he was better than that.

The erstwhile Magnus told the Scot that the referee’s decision was final and he could do nothing about it. After McIntyre called Aldis out for the explanation he had spewed, Jacob Fatu emerged on the entrance ramp. He confronted the ‘Scottish Warrior’, snatched the microphone, and vehemently urged the 40-year-old to stop “b*tching.” ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ claimed that all McIntyre does is blame others for his own wrongdoings.

McIntyre, in turn, snatched the mic from Fatu and went berserk at the former US Champion for showing the gall to treat him the way he did. McIntyre even threatened to have attacked Fatu if he wasn’t hurt. After the former Bloodline member did his signature “All Gas No Brakes” emote, McIntyre clocked him with a Glasgow Kiss.

However, an unfazed Fatu returned the favor with a superkick. He even pulled out the cast from McIntyre’s right leg and decked the latter’s skull with it before leaving.

Drew McIntyre’s role in Amazon MGM Studios’ Highlander revealed

While Drew McIntyre‘s relentless chase for top-star glory in WWE continues to let him down, he’s making quite the waves outside of the squared circle. A while ago, it was reported that the former 3MB member had landed a major Hollywood role.

After nothing on that front for months, the details have finally hit the public eye. As per Deadline, the former two-time WWE Champion has been cast in Amazon MGM Studios’ Highlander movie.

McIntyre will play the role of Henry Cavill‘s brother, Angus MacLeod. Reacting to it, the Scot posted a 3-second-long clip from The Simpsons, playfully relaying that it’s the part he was born to play. McIntyre made his big-screen debut when he acted alongside Dave Bautista in The Killer’s Game last year.

Although the movie turned out to be a box office bomb, McIntyre got the exposure he needed. The production for Highlander is expected to commence in early 2026.

It’s unknown at this point how many weeks of WWE programming McIntyre will have to miss to do justice to his brand-new Hollywood venture. However, his fans would be hoping to see him back in time for the WrestleMania season. He’s had torrid luck when it comes to seizing his moment on the biggest stage.

Last year’s WrestleMania in Philadelphia brought title glory to the Scot for 5 minutes and 46 seconds before he got cashed in on by Damian Priest. ‘The Scottish Warrior’ hasn’t held any title in WWE ever since that point on.
