Jade Cargill seemingly suffered a concussion at Backlash (via WWE)
Jade Cargill teamed up with Bianca Belair to take on The Kabuki Warriors for their Women’s Tag Team Championship at Backlash. In only her third-ever PLE match, the female superstar was able to win gold in the WWE by beating two established WWE superstars. Unfortunately, the match was not all sunshine and rainbows for the former AEW star.
Jade Cargill seemingly suffered a concussion during her match. While it is unclear when the concussion occurred in the match, its effects were highly apparent. After delivering a powerbomb to Kairi Sane, the 31-year-old started stumbling around the ring. She tried to pick up her foe but fell to the ground for seemingly no reason.
The Pirate Princess immediately went for a pinfall to cover up the incident. Additionally, Cory Graves, on commentary, also wrote it off due to her inexperience in the ring. However, there were several other moments in the match where the female superstar looked completely lost and even missed a clothesline on her opponent.
The former TBS champion also appeared emotionless during the end of the match and seemed to have no clue what was going on around her. Still, props must be given to The Storm, as she still finished her match with this condition. She hit her move, Jaded, in tandem with Bianca Belair, who hit the Kiss of Death to seal the victory and take home the gold.
Jade Cargill recreates a spot from her AEW run at Backlash France
During the match, Jade Cargill also recreated an iconic spot from her AEW run at Backlash. During the match, Kairi Sane jumped toward one-half of the new women’s Tag Team Champion. The 31-year-old caught her mid-air and held on to her in a powerbomb position.
In an incredible feat of strength, the 31-year-old powered up the Pirate Princess and turned her around in an electric chair position. Further, she dropped the Japanese superstar, only to catch her by her forearms, and finally delivered her finishing move, Jaded.
This was not the first time she had performed this move. The SmackDown superstar, while signed with AEW, defended her TBS championship against Skye Blue at Battle of the Belts V. During the title defense, she hit the challenger with the same incredible sequence as she did at Backlash. What is even more impressive is that she had already had the alleged concussion while performing this move.
