In Short
  • Jaden Ivey was released by the Chicago Bulls after controversial comments and behavior.
  • Caitlyn Ivey refuted claims of desertion, stating they were in communication during the incident.
  • Ivey will receive his full $10.1 million salary despite being waived, complicating potential legal actions.

No one in the basketball universe anticipated Jaden Ivey to be without a job, especially when he was selected with the fifth overall pick just four years ago.

The Detroit Pistons felt he was worth the hype and drafted him to be paired alongside point guard Cade Cunningham. Along with the rest of their selections and free agent signings, the franchise hoped they would collectively turn the organization’s fortunes around.

That plan worked, and Ivey was an integral part of their resurgence into becoming the best team in the East. But a few days before the trade deadline, the Pistons sent him to the Chicago Bulls.

At the time, many felt that the team’s need for a shoot-first guard made it sensible to send Ivey away, as the latter would demand a major pay raise when his contract was up in the offseason.

Now, the situation is far from it, as the Bulls, too, have let go of the former Purdue star. His anti-LGBTQ comments, rants about some of the leading superstars, and talking about how players and the league as a whole were far removed from faith all contributed to it.

After his release, Jaden Ivey also claimed that his wife and family deserted him after his release. Now, Caitlyn Ivey has brought clarification to that fiasco.

We were communicating all morning of that day. People say things for attention, do not be deceived.

Caitlyn Ivey reveals hateful DMs she received after Jaden Ivey’s claim

Now that Caitlyn Ivey has exposed her husband’s fabricated ‘desertion’ story, the spotlight returns on Jaden Ivey, as now, it seems he has been doing things to garner interest.

Usually, athletes without a job do this, as some have been accused of doing. But at the same time, this can get messy, as it did for the former Bulls’ star’s wife.

She took to Instagram to reveal DMs she received after Jaden Ivey claimed that she deserted him. Most of them were hateful messages labeling her as a typical gold digger going after athletes.

Now that she has exposed her husband’s fabricated story, she also pointed out how there is more to this entire situation than what is immediately evident.

There is obviously a lot more going on, so leave your conspiracies and guesses to yourselves.

Therefore, she hopes the hateful messages stop, as she, her husband, and their family figure out how to navigate their lives after this episode.

Jaden Ivey may not get another chance with an NBA team

After Jaden Ivey was released, some of those who came out in support of him suggested that he should sue the Chicago Bulls and the NBA for waiving him without paying his full salary.

But the Bulls made it clear that the remaining $10.1 million that they owed to the 24-year-old was going to be paid. This leaves him with just a slim chance of fighting a lawsuit based on ‘wrongful termination.’

However, franchises worth billions tend to have an army of lawyers at their disposal. Therefore, it is possible that they went through all iterations of the law before choosing to release the 6’3″ shooting guard.

Already, many believe that Jaden Ivey’s ‘preacher’ mentality will make it difficult for him to get another shot in the NBA. On top of it, if he decides to battle against them in a court of law, his basketball-playing days, at least in the NBA, will be over.
