Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes starred in a 3-0 victory as United picked up their second win of the season. Recently, the club offloaded Jadon Sancho on loan to Chelsea after things went sour between the player and boss Erik ten Hag a season ago. However, as Sancho got off to a winning start at Chelsea, Fernandes made sure to congratulate the player.
Sancho assisted Christopher Nkunku in the 86th minute of the game, after a performance that deserved a win for the Blues. As Sancho took to social media, Fernandes praised the 24-year-old. ‘Some player you. Keep that smile’, commented the United captain as Sancho expressed his delight on making his Chelsea debut.
Sancho was loaned out to Chelsea despite Ten Hag assuring supporters that the dispute between them had been sorted out. The agreement between Manchester United and Chelsea is for the latter to pay the significant part of Sancho’s wages.
As things stand, Chelsea also have the option to bring Jadon Sancho to the club permanently a year later for a fee in the region of £20-25 million.
Enzo Maresca outlines what Jadon Sancho ‘needs’ at Chelsea
Chelsea secured all three points against Bournemouth as Sancho made his Premier League debut for the Blues. Following the game, Enzo Maresca spoke to the press and discussed the signing of Sancho and his debut assist. Maresca has been in the headlines for quite some time after his ‘ruthless’ treatment of excess players in the squad. While many believe that Sancho is in excess to requirements at Stamford Bridge, Maresca thinks otherwise.
I feel that Jadon is the kind of guy that needs love. Also, I know he has the desire to show me what kind of player he is, but for me, it's just to enjoy football.Enzo Maresca told the press
Sancho will play his next game for Chelsea in the Premier League against West Ham United. He won the Player of the Match award as well for his game-winning assist. That being said, fans are confused as to how Sancho will fit in a squad that already has players like Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson up front, with several new signings as well to compete with. Chelsea are currently eighth in the Premier League with seven points from a possible 12.
