Marcus Rashford made his first appearance for Aston Villa in their FA Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Rashford came on in the 66th minute and had an impressive outing. After the match-up, Rashford posted a few images of himself, thanking the fans for the warm welcome. His former teammate at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho, left a cryptic message citing ‘Freedom’.
Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa from Manchester United on loan with a £40m buy option. However, Villa has this opportunity to buy Rashford permanently. Rashford fell out of favour at Old Trafford under the chaperonage of their new boss, Ruben Amorim. The controversies kept on spilling out in the open, and finally, after a tug-of-war, Rashford got an option to be at Villa Park.
Sharing a few stills of him from the FA Cup battle against Tottenham Hotspur, Rashford captioned them, ‘Thank you for the warm welcome. Great team performance.’ Jadon Sancho, who is also out on a loan to Chelsea, commented ‘Freedom’ on the picture, sparking controversy and wildfire discussions. The English international fell out of love under the reign of United’s former boss, Erik ten Hag, and was loaned out to Chelsea at the start of the ongoing season.

Rashford also thanked Manchester United for making the move happen. He revealed that he was approached by quite a few clubs; however, he chose to join Villa. Rashford underlined how Villa’s playing style has mightily impressed him.
The comment from Sancho has led a lot of experts to believe that the ambience at Old Trafford is somehow wrong. Quite a few have pointed out that players aren’t enjoying their time at the Theatre of Dreams. Linking the incidents of Sancho and Rashford, other players and pundits have also tried unearthing the belying difficulties at United, drawing comparisons of the eras under the new coaches and Sir Alex Ferguson.
Ben Foster points out a deep-seated issue at Manchester United after Jadon Sancho remark
The comment from Jadon Sancho caught the attention of the former Wrexham custodian, Ben Foster. Foster, formerly a part of Manchester United in 2005-06, pointed out that Sancho needed to be careful about his statement. He is still a part of Manchester United and is only out on loan at Chelsea. However, he immediately followed his statement with why Sancho’s comment revealed a more deeply-seated complex issue at Old Trafford.

What is he [Sancho] doing? That’s ridiculous because he is still actually employed by Manchester United, so is Marcus Rashford. It just reeks of toxicity at United. It reeks of an unhappy place to be, that everybody’s buzzing for someone to get out [of the club].
Ben Foster said on his own podcast
For both Rashford and Sancho, bigger games will be on their way. As Chelsea play Brighton on Friday, Sancho will possibly be a key element in Enzo Maresca’s side. Rashford, on the contrary, might feature for Aston Villa when they battle Ipswich Town on Saturday. Manchester United will be gearing up for another crucial challenge against the Lilywhites on Sunday.
