Jaguars coach Doug Pederson shockingly claims he was unaware of assault lawsuit against team and former kicker Brandon McManus

It appears Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson was kept in the dark about former kicker Brandon McManus’ lawsuit, but that is when the franchise also knew about it. Unlike other players’ encounters with law enforcement, McManus’ ones didn’t make the headlines until recently. 

For context: two women have filed a civil lawsuit accusing the former Jaguars kicker of s*xually assaulting them, when they were working as flight attendants to the franchise’s trans-Atlantic trip to London, last year in September. The lawsuit was filed in Duval County Circuit Court on Friday, having McManus and the Jaguars as defendants. 

While talking about it at the press conference on Tuesday, Jaguars coach Pederson revealed that he wasn’t aware of the s*xual assault lawsuit or the incident that happened last year. He revealed that he got to know about it through the article on Monday. 

I saw the article that came out. Obviously, disappointing to hear the news that took place. You know, other than that, honestly, being that it’s a legal matter at this time, I can’t really comment until more information is gathered.

Pederson also revealed that the Jaguars weren’t aware of the claims when they cut off kicker McManus. But he refused to get into the specifics of how the players were seated in the plane, especially since the franchise is also on the list of defendants. 

Inappropriate physical contact on the flight alleged by two flight attendants 

The two women who have alleged the s*xual assualt claim against the NFL kicker have not identified themselves and went with Jane Doe I and Jane Doe II and are seeking $1 million in damages.

They alleged McManus tried to kiss one of them and engaged in inappropriate physical contact by rubbing and grinding against both of them while they were trying to perform their professional duties on the flight of 28 September 2023. 

Interestingly, the lawyer representing the women is the same Tony Buzbee who represented the two dozen women accusing Deshaun Watson of sexual assault or harassment. McManus’ lawyer is describing it as fictitious and false allegations against his client.
