Over the past calendar year, the names that have dominated any discussions surrounding the NFL Draft have been Colorado Buffaloes stars Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. Both of them had various narratives surrounding them, raising question marks on where either would land.

Sanders, in particular, has seen his draft stock fall off a cliff. For a player once believed to be a top 2-3 pick, some think he could end up at No. 21 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If they balk, many worry that he could slide out of the first round altogether.

Hunter had a different dilemma on his hands. He won the Heisman trophy, playing both wide receiver as well as cornerback. He wanted to continue playing both positions in the NFL, even threatening to retire if he cannot. But teams were unsure if they wanted to allow the star to exhaust himself playing that many snaps.

Ahead of the draft, everyone was aware that the Tennessee Titans, who held the No. 1 overall pick, had their eyes set on QB Cam Ward. No. 2 overall pick custodians, the Cleveland Browns, were in a predicament, and they decided they did not need Hunter.

Soon, notifications started going off that the Browns sent their second overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In return, they received the No. 5, No. 36, and No. 126 picks from this draft. Along with that, they also landed the Jags’ 2026 first-round pick.

The Jaguars, now armed with the No. 2 overall pick, selected Travis Hunter. The Buffaloes star danced his way to the stage, gave Commissioner Roger Goodell a long, tight hug, knowing he was going to get a good bag as well as a chance to be great.

Fans shake their heads at Jaguars for giving up that much to move up three spots

The Jacksonville Jaguars might have netted a generational talent in Travis Hunter. New head coach Liam Coen might allow the two-way star to show his talents on both sides of the gridiron. Fans can understand that side of the trade.

But they feel rookie GM James Gladstone gave up way too much in this trade. They knew the Cleveland Browns were not excited to use their second pick on any player. Fans believe Gladstone could have drafted Travis Hunter without giving up that much just to move up three spots. Check out some of those social media comments below.

Travis Hunter could vindicate Gladstone and the Jaguars’ front office by continuing to excel in the NFL. He might even make the franchise relevant by playing alongside Trevor Lawrence and a bunch of new additions. But fans are not convinced they needed to give up next season’s first-round pick.

Skip Bayless contradicts fans’ opinion on Jags paying a steep price for Travis Hunter

There will probably never be a clear answer on whether the teams selecting at No. 3 and 4 would skip Travis Hunter. No one will ever get a clear answer whether the Browns would have been forced to select the two-way star had no other team come up with a good enough trade offer.

GREAT MOVE BY JAX TRADING UP FOR TRAVIS HUNTER. NO PRICE TOO STEEP FOR HIM.

That was long-time analyst Skip Bayless, who believes no price is too steep when one can get their hands on a generational talent in Travis Hunter. Bayless might have a soft corner here, considering he is a devout fan of Deion Sanders and has rooted for him and his players.

However, he might not be wrong. Teams have given up a lot more than an additional first and second round pick each to move up three spots. Many of those trades have not panned out and have ended up costing many people their jobs. Bayless believes this is not one of those decisions.
