Jacksonville Jaguars announced former Los Angeles personnel James Gladstone as their new general manager for the 2025 season. Gladstone will take office as the sixth general manager of the AFC South team.

The Jacksonville Jaguars, founded in 1993 and debuting in the NFL in 1995, are one of 12 teams without a Super Bowl victory. They are also one of just four teams—alongside the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans—never to make a Super Bowl appearance.

In the last 24 years, they have only made playoffs four times, reaching the conference game once. With new management in place, the Jags look to change their hard years.

Before entering the NFL, Gladstone built his career in education and coaching in St. Louis, Missouri, serving as Student Activities Director and football coach at Clayton High School and as Media and Literacy Coordinator at St. John Vianney High School.

His NFL journey began in 2016 with the Los Angeles Rams as Senior Assistant to the GM. He climbed the ranks to become Director of Scouting Strategy (2022–2024), where he managed scouting operations and worked closely with GM Les Snead.

During his nine seasons (2016–2024), the Rams won four NFC West titles, made six playoff appearances, and secured a Super Bowl LVI victory, with Gladstone playing a key role in roster construction.

Shahid Khan revealed that Gladstone emerged as their top choice after a painstaking hard interview procedure and he’s excited to see how the new personnel fit in with Liam Coen, Tony Boselli, and Tony Khan.

James emerged as my choice, and our choice, following a painstaking but energizing interview process that left nothing to doubt… In the end, we found James to be a class ahead and exceptional in every regardIt’s going to be fun watching James work with our football leadership team of Liam Coen, Tony Boselli and Tony Khan, but most of all it will be rewarding. I am confident of that.

Shahid Khan said in his statement

Shahid Khan also thanked the Jacksonville Jags fans for their support through the years.

This is also an occasion to thank Jaguars fans everywhere for their support and faith over the years. I know we can count on them to warmly welcome James to Duval while rallying behind our organization and team as we chart a new and promising path forward.

Shahid Khan added

The new team under Coen and Gladstone is expected to build the team around recovering Trevor Lawrence. The highly-paid quarterback suffered a brutal hit and sustained a shoulder injury that kept him out of the second half of the season.

As he enters his fifth year, Lawrence is expected to make some major performances and potentially lead the team to their first playoff in three years.
