Jaida Parker is in hot water [via- WWE]
The U.S. House on Tuesday passed a bill that would debar the transgender athletes from being included in sports teams earmarked for girls and women at federally-funded educational institutions. Lending her support to the motion, NXT upstart Jaida Parker liked an Instagram post highlighting the legislation. Since then, a bunch of netizens have accused the 25-year-old of being transphobic.
In response, the WWE Superstar posted some follow-ups on X. She alluded to those hating on her for their ignorant narrative and uninitiated about the real definition of a transphobe. Parker later clarified that she has nothing against the LGBTQ community and supports them. But as a former Division 1 NCAA athlete, her views on fair participation in sports are hard and fast.
The topic of biological men sneaking into female categories in sports sparked heavy controversy last year. It stemmed from Imane Khelif‘s battle with masculine allegations. The Algerian boxer’s superiority over opponents was also attributed to her biological sex. The story hogged heavy limelight at the Paris Olympics that eventually saw Khelif boxing her way to a gold medal.
Logan Paul also reacted to the situation, expressing his contempt. He outright regarded Khelif as a male athlete, evoking heavy criticism online. But Sami Zayn chimed in to defend Imane against a swarm of what he claimed were the most idiotic and bigoted comments directed her way.
Circling back to Jaida Parker, she stands firm. Her take on gender eligibility in sports is not twisted as she claimed.There’s no word on if Parker will engender backstage heat in WWE with her latest actions. WWE does boast of a healthy LGBTQ family of wrestlers on its roster that may or may not take offense to Jaida.
How did Jaida Parker fare in NXT last year?
2024 was the year when Jaida Parker broke new ground in WWE. She faced Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s title in the biggest match of her career till that point. At the No Mercy PLE, Parker and Perez went the distance.
Their remorseless mindset spilled the action over to the ringside area. Roxanne even planted the OTM member with a pop-Rox on the barricade. Eventually, The Prodigy retained her gold. However, Jaida had a breakout performance that night.
Apart from that, Parker’s hard-hitting feud with Lola Vice has also received heavy props from the fans. In their first encounter at the NXT 2300 special, Parker ousted Vice in a Hardcore match using bricks. Later, at NXT Deadline, Lola avenged that loss by making Parker submit in an Underground match.
