For another iconic episode, Saturday Night Live (SNL) got Chris Rock to host on December 14. The comedian wrapped several up-to-date occurrences in his hilarious monologue. Amongst other things, one was the epic Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson bout, where the former seemed to have caught a stray.
The Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing match found itself amid immense scrutiny from the public. Some of their recent disapproval was from Chris Rock as he questioned who ‘The Problem Child’ was to have secured a match with the legendary boxer.
In his fourth time hosting the show, Rock took several jabs at Paul, negating him for having hit a 58-year-old Mike Tyson. Furthermore, the comedian rhetorically enquired about Paul’s future matches, suggesting Morgan Freeman.
If the monologue did not indicate it, Chris Rock outrightly confessed his distaste for Jake Paul. Not just normal hate, it seems he has got ‘landlord hate’ for the 27-year-old. He went a step ahead to allude to the hate relationship between cocaine and monogamy. Rock wasn’t the only one to have criticized the vast age gap between the two boxers of the iconic bout.
The match saw Jake Paul in an absolutely dominating light that overpowered Mike Tyson. The bout prolonged for eight rounds while the fans alleged it could have concluded way earlier. Additionally, Tyson looked every bit his age from his lousy stance as Paul was full of vigor.
Jake Paul talks criticism over Mike Tyson fight
The controversial nature of the Paul-Tyson match was set in stone the moment it was announced. Paul receiving public scrutiny was also an inevitable happening. In a recent press conference, the 27-year-old boxer clapped back at the critics with his nonchalance.
Right off the bat, Paul denied having paid any penny for his thoughts on the criticism. Furthermore, he shared that all the people who mattered had texted him praises for his work with the match. He himself doubled the claims by calling himself the ‘face of boxing’.
Jake Paul presumed that the people were only mad because he beat the much-idolized boxer. However, the public comments had come from his long history of choosing peculiar fighters, whom he thought he would be able to beat. With a 10-1 record, his lone loss came from the split decision against Tommy Fury.
