Jake Paul adds another quirky accolade of him on social media. The YouTuber-turned-prizefighter beat out competition from the likes of Conor McGregor and Cristiano Ronaldo in doing so. One of his IG reels that took the internet by storm hit it big. Boasting only 28.7 million followers to Conor McGregor’s 47 million and CR7’s mammoth 646 million followers did not halt him.
Paul maintained his quirky but viral online presence all through the year. Jake Paul started the year big, with a knockout of 17-2 journeyman Ryan Bourland. He then swiped out Mike Perry in an eight-round cruiserweight battle for DAZN pay-per-view. ‘Problem Child’ declared right after Bourland that he’d be fighting icon Mike Tyson.
Three of his videos took the internet by surprise more than any ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor or Cristiano Ronaldo reel. Also, the Irishman isn’t making strides with his sparring snippets. Cristiano Ronaldo is in his Euro 2024 slump too, with BBC Sport (@BBCSport) Scores and Fixtures Broadcast segment naming him ‘Misstiano Penaldo.’
Paul’s post-fight Perry vacation video and the one entering the fight with Tyson went immensely viral. But nothing compared to his fat-man shtick! He donned a fat suit to dive into a massive McDonald’s meal to add a false sense of security. The reel had 340 million views.
Jake Paul vs. Tyson headlined MVP’s Netflix boxing event from the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, where he carried the action. The reel happened right before as part of the buildup, and it went viral as well. The Netflix theme was something, but this particular gimmick was just something else!
Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Netflix fiasco crowned top shop event on the Google bar
Was it the nostalgia and the flare of Tyson’s return? Was it the allure of him going strap-down cheek out unhinged or the fact that he could be his old care-not self? Or was it really Jake Paul’s brilliance of selling such a weird matchup and bringing back “Iron”? What made the matchup so famous?

Nobody has a certain answer. But, per Google, the Tyson vs. Paul pro bout was “the top trending sporting event of the year,” adding to a quirky statistical inferno. Once-WBA, WBC, and IBF beltholder Tyson’s return streamed to 60 million households.
While 108 million fight fans tuned in, in legally simulcast stream or otherwise, to see Tyson bite his gloves and Paul range out his left and work his feints. Of course, Super Bowl LVIII averaged 123.4 million viewers across multiple platforms. So they take the cake. However, this was a clear bigger fish on the internet.
The statistical improbability of it and the weirdness of Jake Paul making it happen is quite a thing. Nobody expects a fight with the ‘Mike Tyson’ after all, 58 or not! As a result, the now strictly pro boxer is a heavy prop to defeat combat sports superstar Conor McGregor!
McGregor vs. Logan Paul appears to be the next big fight according to the claims from the Irishman. If things go as planned, the McGregor vs. Logan Paul bout could generate massive revenues as well. They could also break the records of Paul vs. Tyson if the fight ever happens.
