Jake Paul has expressed his desire to take on UFC veteran Nate Diaz, after Ben Askren. Jake Paul is set to face Ben Askren on the 17th of April, this year, in an eight-round boxing match. This will be the YouTuber-cum-Boxer’s third professional boxing bout, after having made his debut in early 2020.
Speaking in an interview with the Heavy, Jake Paul revealed that he would take on Nate Diaz, as soon as Diaz frees up from the UFC, referring to the fact that he has two more fights in his UFC contract.
‘If he frees up from the UFC, that’s the fight‘ – Jake Paul
Jake Paul was quoted as saying, “Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz is going to happen. We’re talking to Diaz’s team. He wants to do it as well. He has two more fights with the UFC apparently. So we’ll see what happens. If he frees up from the UFC, that’s the fight.”
It’s been quite a while, since Nate Diaz stepped inside the octagon. His last fight was against Jorge Masvidal, way back in November 2019. Of late, a lot of top lightweights are interested in fighting the ‘Stockton’ native, since he has hinted at a return to the lightweight division, and even UFC President Dana White confirmed it, recently.
Jake Paul, on the other hand has 2 wins out of 2 in his professional boxing career, against YouTuber AnesonGib and former Basketballer Nate Robinson. His fight against Ben Askren, will be the first time he is taking on a pro-combat sport athlete. Should he beat Askren, a fight against Nate Diaz, is very much on the cards!
