Turkish rising tennis talent Jakub Mensik has refused to place himself in the new “Big 3” era following Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic. Mensik is among many players who have shown great promise early in their careers. As a result, some have predicted that he could dominate the sport just as his three predecessors did.

However, Mensik has rejected this comparison. He has also chosen not to include Joao Fonseca and Alex Michelsen in this debate. All three players were among the biggest names at the Next Gen ATP Finals last year, where Fonseca emerged as the champion.

Roger (Federer), Rafa (Nadal) and Novak (Djokovic) were at the top for 20 years, it’s crazy. Right now, Novak is still playing and can still win tournaments. So it’s a little difficult to talk about it when this new generation is just starting out. Players like me, Joao, Alex Michelsen and all these good tennis players have the tennis to be there one day too.

Jakub Mensik said in an interview to Clay

Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic are considered the epitome of men’s tennis. The trio won a combined 66 Grand Slam titles between 2003 and 2023. Currently, Djokovic is the only member of that era who has not yet retired.

Federer retired at the 2022 Laver Cup after playing a doubles match alongside Nadal. Meanwhile, the Spaniard stepped away from the sport following his country’s Davis Cup quarterfinal defeat against the Netherlands last year.

Carlos Alcaraz equals Rafael Nadal’s record at Indian Wells

Carlos Alcaraz was close to matching a big record set by Rafael Nadal. He made history at Indian Wells with his quarter-final win on Thursday. The World No. 3 defeated Francisco Cerundolo 6-3, 7-6(4) in a tough match. Strong winds made it hard for all players, but Alcaraz fought through.

This victory was his 16th straight win at Indian Wells. He is the two-time defending champion at the Masters 1000 event. Alcaraz now has 20 wins at the tournament in just 22 matches. His only losses came against Andy Murray in 2021 and Nadal in 2022.

No player in history has won 20 matches at Indian Wells as fast as Alcaraz. Only Nadal reached 20 wins faster at any Masters 1000 event. The elder Spaniard did it in just 21 matches at Monte Carlo and Rome. Both tournaments are played on his favorite clay courts.

Alcaraz may have missed Nadal’s record, but another big achievement is possible. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are the only men to win three Indian Wells titles in a row. Federer did it in 2005-06, while Djokovic won from 2014-16. Alcaraz has a chance to join them.

Highlighting Novak Djokovic’s off-court investments

Novak Djokovic is one of the greatest tennis players ever. His success is not just on the court but also in business. Over the years, he has made smart investments that have increased his wealth. His business deals have also helped other athletes get involved.

One of his key investments is with Waterdrop, a company he joined in 2023. In early 2024, he launched SILA, a caffeine-free and sugar-free supplement for hydration. Waterdrop aims to reduce plastic waste, and Djokovic’s involvement attracted more investors. In April 2024, top tennis players like Taylor Fritz, Elina Svitolina, and Andrey Rublev also invested.

In 2020, Djokovic invested in CLMBR, a company that makes vertical climbing machines. The machines offer a full-body workout with low impact. He also invested in OnePointOne, a company focused on vertical farming. This business helps grow food in a sustainable way and even uses plants to develop medicines.

Djokovic also supports tennis through business. In 2019, he invested in UTR Sports, which helps people find and play tennis or pickleball. The platform provides ratings for players at all levels. His investments show his passion for health, fitness, and sports.
