The India vs. Pakistan mega showdown at the Asia Cup 2025 may not have lived up to its hype but certainly had many off-field incidents that took the internet by storm. India, who comfortably beat Pakistan by 7 wickets on Sunday (September 14), were clinical in each department and didn’t show a molecule of nervousness in their playing approach.

However, that wasn’t the first and only ‘oops’ moment for the men in green. There was a bizarre moment that took place right before the national anthem of the two teams as well. After the toss, as the two teams lined up for the national anthem, the DJ at the Dubai International Stadium shocked one and all.

It was decided that first the national anthem of Pakistan would be played and that would be followed by the anthem of India. As the men in green got ready to sing the anthem, the DJ accidentally played out ‘Jalebi Baby’, a song by Canadian rapper and singer Tesher.

The players and the fans in stadium were stunned as the DJ quickly corrected himself to play the ‘Quami Tarana’, which is the national anthem of the country. That was a hilarious moment for many fans at the ground and at home.

However, the off-field incidents that followed the cricket that was played were more emotional than funny as captain Suryakumar Yadav and India decided to not shake hands with the Pakistani team, stirring a controversy. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha too responded to the incident by not showing up at the post-match talks, and reportedly it was because Indian anchor Ravi Shastri was conducting it.

What lies ahead for India and Pakistan after an emotional clash in Dubai

The match between India and Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium wasn’t a close one by any stretch of imagination. India clearly dominated its opponent and has won round 1 of the clashes. The men in blue restricted the Pakistan team to a meagre 127 for the loss of 9 wickets.

The Indian batters without much fuss came out all guns blazing and made small work of the target set for them. India has put one foot in the Super 4s and should qualify without many problems for the next round. They have a match left against Oman, which will be played on the 19th in Abu Dhabi.

It will be interesting to see whether India’s leading wicket taker in T20Is, Arshdeep Singh, gets an opportunity in that game as he unexpectedly was made to sit out in the first two games. The game against Oman may also provide India the right opportunity to rest a player like Jasprit Bumrah, who will be key for the side in the Super 4s.

Pakistan, on the other hand, needs to win its last match. They will play the UAE to end their group stage clashes. One would expect the men in green to outperform the UAE and once again meet India on the following Sunday in the Super 4s clash.

Pakistan in their outing vs. India would have understood the big gap that exists between the two sides. However, they would also have understood that the tournament is far from over and they do have opportunities to bounce back.

However, an Indian win looks inevitable the following Sunday as well, with the difference in skill level. The one thing that Pakistan can still bank on is its history of surprising opposition teams from time to time.
