Jalen Brunson may go down as the greatest New York Knicks player in history after what he has done for this club in just four years. Since joining the Knicks in 2022, he has emerged as a leader and has shown immense growth in his game.

His skillset and attitude was on full display throughout this year’s playoffs. Even in Game 5 on Saturday night, everyone seemed to struggle to find any offensive rhythm in the whole match except for Brunson.

The Knicks guard led the Knicks to their first championship in 53 years after beating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 at the Frost Bank Center. It was an emotional moment for the players, fans and the entire franchise.

After the game, Brunson had tears in his eyes when asked about his feelings.

I got no words. I don’t know what I’m feeling. I’m in awe. Whenever someone counted us out, we found a way to come back and do something about it.

Jalen Brunson was unstoppable in Game 5

After helping the Knicks pull off the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history alongside OG Anunoby in Game 4, Jalen Brunson and his teammates would have believed that they had the Spurs where they wanted them. The psychological impact after losing Game 4 would have been a lot to recover from for the Spurs.

While they did start well in Game 5, the Knicks came up big in the clutch once again. Players from both teams struggled to score in Game 5 except for the Knicks’ star guard.

Karl-Anthony Towns speaks on Jalen Brunson’s growth in the last two years

Karl-Anthony Towns was a strong contender for the Finals MVP award after Games 1 and 2. However, he did not have much going in the next three games. Meanwhile, Jalen Brunson grew stronger and stronger with every passing game and was unstoppable in the last two games.

After the win, ‘KAT’ spoke about his teammate and his impact on the team.

I’ve seen a man that’s grown up and took the challenge of being in the biggest market in the world. Being in a team that hasn’t made it to the NBA Finals in 27 years, hasn’t won in 53 years. Shout-out to everybody who told him he couldn’t do it because it gave him fuel for the fire.
