A new NFL season has started with the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Dallas Cowboys. Naturally, all eyes were on the team game, but Jalen Carter had a moment he will regret when confronting Dak Prescott.
After the stellar opening show, both teams lined up for what would be defining seasons for them. On one hand, the defending champions are out to prove their win last season was not a fluke.
On the other hand, the Cowboys are facing a lot of uncertainty as fans wonder how the seemingly retooled team would perform against the best team in the league.
When officials blew the whistle for kickoff, it was the Eagles who kicked off with a Jake Elliott 60-yard drive that KaVontae Turpin grabbed at their 5-yard line and returned for 27 yards.
Now it was the turn of Dak Prescott and his offense to show their improvement, and as they were awaiting the play call, Jalen Carter decided to mess with their minds.
Clips show him jawing with the highest-paid QB in the league, both sides not giving up an inch. Then, as the defensive lineman walks away, cameras catch him spitting on the Cowboys QB.
WHAT JUST HAPPENED??

Officials took time out to review, and replays made it clear that the Georgia star did spit on Dak Prescott. He was immediately ejected before he even played a snap, leading to a loud round of boos.
Fans fume at Jalen Carter’s behavior towards Dak Prescott
This 2025 NFL season was supposed to kick off with what was touted to be the most elaborate marketing push in recent years. The top brass must have thought of pushing the narrative that the league is a step above all other sports.

But fans and the top brass certainly did not envision Jalen Carter spitting on Dak Prescott to be the first visual football fans get to experience. Despite all his talent, fans were enraged that the Eagles tackle could not keep his mind in the right place.
Had he thrown a punch, it would have still better positioning than spitting on someone, which brings up questions about his character. Fans hope the league suspends him for a good number of games, as they believe he needs to be taught a lesson in humility.
Such acts, if not punished adequately, will end up aggravating over a period of time. Fans took to social media to lash out at the 24-year-old, with examples listed below.
Disgusting. If he’s not suspended multiple games I’m disappointed

It’s crazy how he would’ve been better off slapping Dak across the head.

Spitting is just diabolical.

He’s a menace to society

The league needs to shut this down – suspend him without pay for the season
— TheRaven (@RavenQuoth007) September 5, 2025
Most ridiculous and loser move I have ever seen in an NFL game.

Before the NFL decides on his punishment, the Philadelphia Eagles will likely do something on their part. After all, such incidents will portray them in a bad light. It could be a while before Jalen Carter plays football again.
Eagles-Cowboys starts 2025 NFL season with a brawl
After Jalen Carter was ejected, it seems the Philadelphia Eagles were caught off guard for a bit. Dak Prescott and his offense drove down the length of the field to score a touchdown, taking the first lead of the season.
On the following drive, his opposite number, Jalen Hurts, led his team down the field and ran in for a touchdown to level the scores. This brought back some semblance of competition for the home fans.
Jake Elliott kicked off for 63 yards, and Turpin again tried to use his electric pace and agility to give the offense a good starting position. Eagles linebackers Joshua Uche and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. tracked him down and tackled him at Dallas’ 24-yard line.
Apparently, that tackle seemed a bit much for second-year Cowboys linebacker Marist Liufau, who held on to Cooper DeJean‘s facemask after the Eagles star safety unhooked his fellow draft classmate’s helmet.

After they were separated, officials slapped a 12-yard penalty on Liufau, setting the visiting Cowboys back to their 12-yard line. It did not seem to deter them, as they went on to score again.
