Jalen Hurts has seen his fair share of critics in the NFL. Ever since he became the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems those critics are lining up to find faults in him. Even then, now he is preparing to lead his team to another Super Bowl.
He did not necessarily have a stellar season as a quarterback. He had quite a few games where he threw for under 200 yards. That even led to teammate AJ Brown calling out the lack of a passing game. However, it seemed Hurts could turn up the heat whenever needed.
One of those major critics of the Eagles QB has been Hall of Famer Michael Irvin. The legendary Dallas Cowboys WR has claimed that he will apologize to Jalen Hurts if he wins Super Bowl LIX against Patrick Mahomes. But Keyshawn Johnson had a different take on that.
The Super Bowl champion said this straight to Irvin while on All Facts No Brakes and added that Jalen Hurts deserves praise. At a time when quarterbacks want to showcase their talent, the Eagles QB has disregarded statistics for the needs of the team.
Jalen Hurts will need to balance it against Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX
An analysis of the Eagles’ offense this season would show that they leaned heavily on Saquon Barkley. However, if one looks deeply, it is evident that the offense did not need Hurts to do much. However, the same cannot be the method the Philadelphia Eagles choose to execute against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes and his team have shown far too many times that it takes a lot to beat them. Stephen A. Smith said recently that if the Eagles have to beat the Chiefs, Hurts has to do more. If not, the back-to-back Super Bowl champions will again come out on top.
Both teams have defenses that can stifle the other. If the Eagles side can hold their ground, it will be up to Hurts to score points on the other end. There is a possibility that the Chiefs defense looks to stop Barkley from blowing the game open.
That is where Jalen Hurts will have to step up. He has elite receivers and an outstanding offensive line to aid him. Do his part with efficiency, and the likes of Michael Irvin and other critics will finally acknowledge him as a great quarterback.
