A day before the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl LIX fixture against the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Jalen Hurts gave an emotional speech in front of his teammates. He was waiting for the opportunity for a shot at revenge.
The Eagles and the Chiefs played each other in the Super Bowl LVIII two years ago in Arizona. Despite Hurts’ best efforts, completing four touchdowns, the Eagles succumbed to a 38-35 defeat.
From then on, Hurts made it his goal to reach the Super Bowl and especially defeat the Chiefs. They came close in the 2023 season but were knocked out in the wild-card round.
Last time being here, this s**t changed my life. It changed my life, and it changed my mentality, and it changed everything. Because, for so long, I was seeking, ‘What would I do if I had this moment again?’ What would I do when this opportunity met me again?
Jalen Hurts said on the latest video of ‘Unscripted.’
Hurts didn’t give up; he fought back in 2024, and unlike the previous season, he had Saquon Barkley to rely on. The pair led the Eagles to a 14-3 finish in the regular season and then defeated both the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Commanders to set up a revenge match against the Chiefs.
This was the chance Hurts was eagerly waiting for. When asked to give a speech to motivate his teammates, the 26-year-old became emotional.
On the biggest stage, everybody watching. I didn’t get benched—I put on a good show, and I couldn’t have done that without you guys. But I left that motherf***er so empty.

Hurts delivered. He threw two touchdowns and rushed for an additional one to secure his first-ever Super Bowl trophy.
Jalen Hurts’ mother confronted Nick Wright after Super Bowl LIX
Following the Eagles’ Super Bowl win, they celebrated by organizing a party at Brennan’s in New Orleans. Chiefs fanatic FS1 analyst Nick Wright was present at the event.

Wright was enjoying the party when a woman confronted him for always criticizing Jalen Hurts. After a brief exchange, Wright realized it was Hurts’ mother Pamela.
She [Pamela Hurts] obviously just thinks I’m wrong, which is what a mother should think. She says, ‘What are you going to say when he wins?’ I was like, ‘Well, if he,’ and before that, she goes, ‘Not if—when he wins.’ So, what I’ll say is, Jalen Hurts now deserves to be just considered one of the five best quarterbacks. Winning a Super Bowl really matters a lot.

Hurts has deservedly earned his brownie points. His struggle began in Alabama, after Tua Tagovailoa replaced him as the starter, forcing him to move to Oklahoma for a final year.
Scouts even criticized Hurts’ throwing ability, causing him to fall down to the second round. Tua went to Miami, and Hurts joined the Eagles. However, Tua has never managed to go past the wild card round, while Hurts played in two Super Bowls and won one. A fitting reply to critics like Wright.
