Jalen Hurts, the 26-year-old quarterback from Houston, Texas, captured everyone’s hearts last month. The 53rd pick from 2020 Draft Class became everyone’s favorite as he ended the Kansas City Chiefs’ three-peat hopes and highlighted the loopholes in the Chiefs’ dynastic run.
Hurts rose to fame in his third year, when he led the Eagles to 14 wins, losing only one game he started in the regular season. In the same season, Hurts led them to the Super Bowl after defeating the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional and conference rounds.
The fate wasn’t kind to him as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Eagles in the championship game. The Super Bowl LIX, last month, was a rematch of the 2022 season championship game. Hurts, who came through for the Eagles in the previous game, shined once again on February 9 and finished his revenge arc.
In five years, the 26-year-old has played nine playoff games. After losing the first one in 2021, he won twice in 2022 and four times in the 2024 season. In this process, he became the first quarterback from the 2020 Draft Class to win six games.
The 2020 draft class of quarterbacks is one of the best the league has seen in recent times. Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow went first overall. Pro bowlers Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert were selected by the Miami Dolphins and the Los Angeles Chargers at fifth and sixth, respectively. With the 26th pick, Jordan Love became Aaron Rodgers‘ successor at the Green Bay Packers.
However, in five years, these four first-rounders have combined for just six wins. Here is a table summing up their postseason careers.
Quarterback | Postseason Record |
Joe Burrow | 5-2 |
Tua Tagovailoa | 0-1 |
Justin Herbert | 0-2 |
Jordan Love | 1-2 |
Total | 6-7 |
