Jalen Hurts played in his first-ever Super Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, back in 2023 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts went toe-to-toe with Patrick Mahomes, completing four overall touchdowns, but kicker Harrison Butker came out clutch in the final moments of the game, winning it 38-35 through a 27-yard field goal.

It’s close to the second anniversary of that loss, but the game is still fresh in everyone’s memory. Hurts led the Eagles back to the Super Bowl and once again he will come face to face with Mahomes and the Chiefs on February 9.

On Friday, after finishing their routine practice session before flying off to Louisiana, Hurts spoke with the media from the Eagles facility in Philly. One of the reporters asked the 26-year-old about his vivid memory of ‘that’ Super Bowl loss. Jalen Hurts said “next question” and moved on without disclosing much.

Jalen Hurts keeps a memento of the loss on his phone

It’s hard to erase memories of past defeats—especially if it happened in the Super Bowl. Hurts is no exception. In fact, he even keeps a piece of that game on his phone as a reminder.

Sometime after the defeat, the Eagles were busy with a bit of light-hearted singing in their auditorium. Rookie punter Ty Zenter was busy taking photos of everyone inside the premises and shared them on Instagram.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed the screensaver on Hurts’ phone and realized it was from the Super Bowl loss.

It’s fair to say Hurts hates to lose and strives to win every game. The mentality comes from playing for a college like Alabama. He kept a screenshot of the defeat to Clemson in the college football final on his phone.

Jalen Hurts’ 2024 season in numbers

The 2023 season ended in disappointment after crashing out in the wild card despite a good start. Experts predicted a repeat in 2024, but the Eagles proved them wrong.

One of the biggest off-season additions paid off. Running back Saquon Barkley went off recording over 2000+ scrimmage yards and 15 touchdowns. However, as Jason Kelce recently highlighted, it was possible because of Hurts creating for him.

Hurts ended the year with 3533 overall yards, 32 overall touchdowns, and just 5 interceptions in the regular season. Furthermore, in the three post-season games, the Pro Bowler completed 48 passes for 50 yards and 7 overall touchdowns.
