Jalen Ramsey played alongside Tua Tagovailoa for the Miami Dolphins during the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons. At the start of the 2025 season, the Dolphins traded the veteran defensive back to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In Week 15, Ramsey came face-to-face with Tagovailoa in Pittsburgh. The Steelers took a 25-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter, with touchdowns from Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Connor Heyward, DK Metcalf, and Jonnu Smith.
It seemed the curse of the cold weather was weighing down Tagovailoa and the Dolphins. According to ESPN Insights, the Dolphins arrived at Acrisure Stadium carrying a 13-game losing streak (including the playoffs) in games played in temperatures of 40 degrees or below.

The Dolphins have lost 13 straight games (including playoffs) with kickoff temps below 40°F.

Tua also boasted a terrible 0-5 record in freezing temperatures.
So, the odds were stacked against him from the start. The Dolphins crashed out of the 2023 playoffs against the Kansas City Chiefs in KC, where the temp dropped to as low as -4 degrees. Tagovailoa threw for 199 yards, 1 touchdown, and the game-losing interception.
The 27-year-old fared better on Monday against the Steelers despite conceding an interception in just the Dolphins’ second drive. He threw two late touchdowns, both to tight end Darren Waller.
But there’s a catch. In classic Tua fashion, the Pro Bowl signal caller failed to convert on the extra point tries. Jalen Ramsey celebrated by taunting his former quarterback after tight end Greg Dulcich couldn’t hold onto the pass during the second extra PT try.
Ramsey looked at the end zone camera and shouted,”Weak as AF!!!“

The Steelers won the game 28-15. Tagovailoa completed 22 passes from 28 attempts (78.5%) for 253 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. He leads the league with 15 interceptions. As for Ramsey, he racked up 6 total tackles, one tackle for loss, and one sack.
Jalen Ramsey sent a message to the Dolphins with the win
Ramsey’s time in Miami was marked by a series of controversies that escalated as the 2024 season drew to a close. By the end, Ramsey and Dolphins’ head coach, Mike McDaniel, did not see eye to eye.

To be fair, the Dolphins struggled to win games with Tagovailoa on concussion protocol. Finishing 8-9 wasn’t something on Ramsey’s to-do list. So, the Dolphins honored his wishes by trading him to the Steelers ahead of the 2025 season in a deal that involved Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh-round pick. In return, the Dolphins received DB Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.
Clearly, Monday’s game meant a lot for Ramsey. ESPN’s Brooke Pryor asked Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward about Ramsey’s passion as a player. Heyward, with a smile, replied,
I love Jalen’s [Ramsey] passion. I love the way he attacks and everything he does, and there was nothing stopping him today.
Asked Cam Heyward if he could tell this game meant something extra to Jalen Ramsey: "Yes." (laughs)

The Steelers hold an 8-6 record, leading the AFC North and currently occupying the AFC’s fourth seed. Ramsey has been a mainstay in the Steelers’ secondary, racking up 74 combined tackles, 3 tackles for losses, 3 sacks, 6 pass deflections, and 1 interception.
