Jamahal Hill‘s rise and fall in the UFC has remained dramatic. Once as a rising fan favorite, he shocked the world by capturing the title. However, his momentum has since faded, and he finds himself on a two-fight losing streak. Hill’s most recent bout against Jiri Prochazka exposed his struggles, as he found it difficult to keep up with the relentless Czech warrior.

Hill and Jiri Prochazka fought each other last month on the main card of UFC 311 PPV. The fight went for three rounds and ended with Prochazka knocking out the American fighter in a brutal way. Throughout the fight, Hill couldn’t find his rhythm and in a recent video talked about it in detail.

I fought twice in the last two years. That last fight, I wasn’t able to get comfortable. I wasn’t comfortable, I didn’t feel the routine, I didn’t get into my normal flow and it didn’t feel like it…..Before that fight, I’d only had 3 minutes of time which was warm-up time in a fight before to get into that fight and things of that nature.

Hill vacated his light heavyweight title back in 2023 due to an injury. He had to be operated on, which kept him away for a year. During that time Alex Pereira became the champion and in their title clash, the Brazilian destroyed Hill in the first round. Hill took another long break, but his comeback fight had the same result.

In contrast to the loss to Pereira, Hill showed sportsmanship after his latest defeat to Prochazka. He has expressed that he enjoyed the fight, but it wasn’t his night. Going forward, the fighter plans to make a strong comeback and top light heavyweight Khalil Rountree is currently on his way.

Jamahal Hill talks about his scheduled opponent at UFC Kansas City

The UFC recently announced that Jamahal Hill and Khalili Rountree will headline the UFC Kansas City card in April. Rountree is coming off his loss against Alex Pereira at UFC 307. However, his performance against the Brazilian makes him a strong candidate to win against Hill.

Rountree likes to stand and bang, and fans are expecting a brutal striking contest between both fighters. However, Hill doesn’t necessarily consider the former title contender as a worthy opponent. In an interview, Hill shared his opinion on the ‘War Horse’ and didn’t shy away from discrediting him.

The way that Pereira beat Khalil, for one – Pereira couldn’t beat me fighting that way. And two, that’s how I would’ve beat Khalil from the jump…. People got recency bias and things like that. If anybody thinks that Khalil is on my level, let’s see him go and win a fight because he’s not even – we’re not even in the same bracket right now.

This fight was originally supposed to take place at UFC 303, but was called off after Rountree was found positive for banned substances. Hill was critical about this, and didn’t like it when Rountree received a title shot against Pereira. Now, both fighters have an opportunity to settle their long-running beef inside the octagon.
