After seeing Alex Pereira at the UFC Performance Institute, Jamahal Hill brought his social media energy to real life. But Hill suggested that it was Pereira who sparked the row at the UFC PI. Now, the Team Black Lion Jiu-Jitsu fighter pitched in his side of the altercation.

Hill faced off with Pereira on Thursday at the UFC PI in Las Vegas. Unsurprisingly, the interaction was far from friendly as the two traded barbs with Hill doing most of the talking. At one point, Pereira was signaling him to lace on gloves (“Coloca a luva”) and enter the cage. Now, Hill went slander-candor on the situation.

I was at the PI earlier. Alex was there, I just finished working out… and I went to go up and have a conversation, ask him what we on? We don’t have to talk across Twitter because I’m right here…he said something to his translator, ‘He said you’re still sleeping, woke up and sht.’ I’m wide awake now. You can get put to sleep for real. Then it kind of went to a whole fake a**, ‘Yeah, come get the gloves and go in the cage.’

‘Sweet Dreams” most recent outing came in a knockout loss to Pereira at the April pay-per-view (PPV) top bill, in UFC 300. Ever since the nightmare, Hill has been on a to-and-fro about how ‘Poatan’ ignored a referee pause and went in with an illegal shovel hook. Still with that in his mind, Hill even doused many challenges to him.

Hill will be looking for redemption when he takes on fellow ex-light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 on the 18th of January. No. 1 seed Magomed Ankalaev continues to push for his next title shot against Pereira. But the hope is with a few more visits, Hill can urge himself into the equation. The Brazilian gave his thoughts on the matter as well.

Chama or No-Chama: Alex Pereira weighs in on UFC PI Drama

“Poatan” needed just over three minutes to knock out Hill, who claimed Pereira’s KO was a fluke and not a true representation of a PPV title scrap. Hill and Alex Pereira have been at each other’s throats in the media and on social media since the fight. The viral UFC PI altercation just adds to the saga.

The 16th annual World MMA Awards took place on Thursday at The Theatre at Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. Pereira – a brand champ and top PPV draw in domestic/non-domestic sites like ESPN2/ESPNU/ESPN Deportes, was present. He was also a clear contender for Charles Lewis FOTY/KO of the Year nominee. During his walk on the red carpet, he had to weigh in on the UFC PI square-up.

Well, things happen, …This is the first time it’s happened to me, but I’m focused on myself, focused on my thing. Right now, he should be worried about his next fight. He has a tough fight with Jiri.

Both Hill and Prochazka are eyeing a rematch with Pereira. UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones also wants Pereira next. The newly crowned Fighter of the Year likes the fact that he still has options. Where he goes from here is up to the brass. But the stoic and cool-head Pereira brushes off such incidences and is here for any challenges.
