At UFC 313, UFC light heavyweight Jamahal Hill has ample room to feel full of himself. Hill predicted Magomed Ankalaev had more in his arsenal to bag the UFC 205-pound undisputed gold. He did just that, defeating Alex Pereira via unanimous decision.
Hill relinquished the stake to his 205-pound strap after a basketball injury during UFC 290 fight week. Hence, he was angsty to get back to it but failed against “Poatan”. Ever since then, “Sweet Dreams” has been nightmare fuel and a ‘grape sour’ kind of guy. So, the fans naturally hit back when he predicted Magomed Ankalaev would win the UFC 313 PPV event headliner. Now, he’s having the last laugh.
But I’m a hater tho!!!#bestbreakdownsinthegame …[different tweet] Lmfao y’all are pathetic I didn’t care who won I called the fight how I saw and talk got mad and clearly don’t know sh*t about fighting!!! Cheeto dust warriors just talking di*k riding a man that don’t even know y’all! Me and Alex are cool and respect each other anytime we meet!

In the build-up to this affair, Jamahal Hill did not come out very sportingly. He said Alex Pereira banked on a referee pause to illegally smoke him with a shovel hook at UFC 300. Hill would also douse himself better than the then-champ and most others in the process. Instead of backing down, the Team Black Lion Jiu-Jitsu product legged up on the trash talk.

Hill even had a weird altercation with Pereira at the UFC PI (Las Vegas). Many times now, he has faced backlash for his take on Pereira lacking in ground game or not doing well against dedicated UFC competition southpaws. Now, Jamahal Hill‘s post-fight plunder has nothing to do with seeing a rival lose. When a guy is right, he is right. Someone else, though, had some harsher words for Pereira.
Alex Pereira under fire for ‘lazy performance’ leading up to UFC 313 PPV shock title loss
Ankalaev, touting digits of 21-1-1 MMA and on a long streak (12-1-1 UFC), dominantly won gold. He showed he could crank it out in all facets of MMA and even outmatched Pereira in striking. “Poatan” could not get things going despite frequent lead-leg kicks and a few jabs. He lost out in a way of UD (49-46, 48-47, and 48-47) in his fourth consecutive defense.

Alex Pereira could not deal with the all-around pressure. Especially in the later frames; he did shake off the cobwebs but suffered in a clinch against the fence. UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping now questions Pereira’s drive and hunger in the UFC 313 title affair.
From Alex Pereira, it was just kind of a lazy performance. I didn’t see that real desire to want to win, …Ankalaev was big, strong, good enough to compete on the feet — and of course, he had the takedown threat. And even though he didn’t get the takedown, the threat was as good — it wasn’t lazy in terms of Pereira wasn’t trying, not that he was out of breathe and tired, didn’t prepare…the general amount of output that we saw, it just wasn’t there.
Michael Bisping on his “Believe You Me” podcast (@bisping)
Much like Jamahal Hill and others, Bisping was an early proponent of Pereira needing to amp up his ground game. But this was different. This was an uncharacteristic sweepout where he could not put out his usual striking clinic. Pereira is used to circling from the center and not against the fence.
In the lead-up, Daniel Cormier had similarly critiqued his hunger and fight prep. Pereira wasted time as PPV main event cornerman at UFC 312: Du Plessis vs. Strickland 2, Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park. However, those were in the vein of his lack of wrestling. This one, though, is weird and unexplainable overall.
