Jamal Crawford brags predicting Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving being the greatest backcourt of all time years ago

The Dallas Mavericks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of the WCF Playoff Finals, qualifying for the NBA Finals this season in style. Notably, Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic‘s backcourt duo has been the defining factor for the Mavs’ top performances throughout this season. However, former NBA player, Jamal Crawford reminded the NBA community of his prediction regarding the two stars back in 2022-23.

Jamal Crawford showed confidence in Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic despite the Dallas Mavericks’ troubles in the second part of the 2022–2023 season. Back then, Crawford made a bold prediction stating that the two players were the most skilled duo in NBA history. Fast-forward to the 2023-24 season. Crawford’s words have not proved to be wrong in any way.

Crawford took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to remind everyone what he said regarding Doncic and Irving back in 2023.

I guess I was ahead of the curve.

Crawford well and truly was ahead of the curve as the backcourt of Doncic and Irving caused mayhem this 2023-24 NBA season.

On the sports side, Doncic and Irving outclassed the Minnesota Timberwolves in the WCF Finals this season. Both the players dropped consistently stellar performances on the Timberwolves, clinching the series 4-1 in Game 5 at the Target Center. In addition, Luka Doncic was also named the WCF Finals MVP against the Timberwolves.

Kyrie Irving shares his views on him and Luka Doncic being termed “greatest-backcourt”

The Dallas Mavericks star duo Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been garnering praise from the whole of the NBA community this season. Interestingly, various analysts in the NBA have also been terming them as the greatest backcourt in NBA history. Notably, Irving did not seem to be a big fan of the term given to them as of yet.

After Game 3 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, in the post-match press conference, Irving had a few things to say.

It doesn't mean anything if we don't win a ring together, I say that very responsibly too, not saying that we aren't great now but there are other backcourts that are more deserving right now for that recognition.

Irving gracefully responded to the reporters regarding the terms imposed upon them by the analysts.

On the sports side, the Mavericks will face the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals this 2023-24 season. Also, Irving and Doncic will be focused on achieving the NBA title together after performing extremely well in sync this season.
