Jamal Murray, point guard for the Denver Nuggets, had been fined $100,000 for throwing a towel and heating pad in the direction of a referee during Monday’s Western Conference semifinal Game 2 loss on home court to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite this, Murray was not stressing the situation, when he shrugged off a reporter’s question.

He wasn’t interested in discussing what went down during the game any further when he was asked if there were conversations about people he had to apologize to. Murray responded to the same during media duties.

Do you have any basketball questions?
Jamal Murray replied

The incident here took place with 4:41 remaining in the second quarter of the game, while the Denver Nuggets trailed the T-Wolves by 19 points. Jamal Murray tossed the objects onto the court, however, the referees did not notice as play continued. The defending champions went on to lose 106-80, and now trail the Wolves by a 2-0 deficit.

Murray’s actions were likely a result of frustration, as he has been stifled without remorse by the Timberwolves’ aggressive defensive style. He had however struggled with his shooting, as he scored just eight points on 3/18 shooting in Game 2, and 17 points on 6/14 shooting in Game 1.

Jamal Murray takes responsibility for his actions

Jamal Murray lost his composure during Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves and then threw a towel and heat pack on the court towards a game official. He was eventually slapped with a $100,000 fine by the league authorities but avoided a game suspension, just exactly what Stephen A. Smith wanted.

Furthermore, he took responsibility for his actions and went further to acknowledge that the Nuggets needed to stay focused on the game plan and not let unnecessary emotions get in the way.

It is what it is. I take full responsibility, onto the next.
Jamal Murray said to reporters

The Nuggets are facing a 2-0 deficit after losing both games on their home turf in the Western Conference semifinals led Murray to emphasize the importance of staying composed and working together to overcome their present challenge. In addition, they need to regroup and refocus to claw their way back into the series if they want to become the second team since the Dubs to win back to back titles.
