In Short
  • Ja'Marr Chase expressed frustration over Maxx Crosby's trade to the Baltimore Ravens, fearing increased competition in the division.
  • Crosby was traded for two first-round draft picks after the Ravens outbid other teams for his services.
  • Analysts warn that the trade may not yield positive results for the Ravens, citing Crosby's recent injury history and age.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase provided his unfiltered reaction to the Las Vegas Raiders trading away edge rusher Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. It means that the Bengals’ offense has to face off against Myles Garrett (Cleveland Browns), TJ Watt (Pittsburgh Steelers), and now Crosby (Ravens).

Crosby, a Raider for life, had no plan on leaving Sin City and playing for another team. That said, football is a business, and anything can happen once free agency opens.

Even though new head coach Klint Kubiak assured that Crosby was not for sale, reports surfaced that the Raiders were talking with other teams about a possible trade. Crosby stayed silent through the entire ordeal.

Earlier this week, the Ravens edged out competition from the Cowboys, Bears, and the Patriots to secure Crosby’s services. It means that the 28-year-old will now play in arguably the best division in football.

The news struck other teams in the division with the force of a nuclear blast. Bengals All-Pro wideout Ja’Marr Chase crashed out after realizing he’d have to line up opposite Crosby twice, starting in the 2026 NFL season.

Joe [Burrow] just fu**** text [ed] me. [The Baltimore] Ravens traded for Maxx Crosby. No fu*** s***. No fu**** s*** brother. I’m fu**** highly pissed right now. Oh my god. Fu*****, how the fu** do we let this n*** go to the f***** division bro.

Chase won the AFC North twice in his first two years with the Bengals (2021 and 2022). They reached the Super Bowl in his rookie year, only to suffer defeat against the Los Angeles Rams. The following year, Cincinnati competed in the conference title game. However, they haven’t returned since. In fact, the Bengals missed the playoffs in each of the past three seasons, finishing fourth once and third twice.

Meanwhile, Crosby cemented his place as one of the best edge rushers in football. In 110 appearances, he racked up 439 combined tackles, 69.5 sacks, 133 tackles for loss, 29 pass deflections, and 11 forced fumbles.

NFL analyst gives a warning to the Ravens about Maxx Crosby

Crosby never wanted to leave the Raiders, the team that drafted him in 2019. He aimed to finish his career in Vegas. Still, the NFL is a business, and trades like sending Micah Parsons to the Packers can happen no matter a player’s status on the team.

The Ravens gave up two first-round draft picks (2026 and a 2027 first-round) in exchange for Crosby. This could go two ways. Either Crosby boosts the Ravens’ defense and leads the team to a championship, or the move completely backfires, as it did for the Browns with Deshaun Watson.

NFL analyst Sam Monson, formerly of PFF, hinted that the Ravens are likely to experience the latter scenario.

I get why the Ravens were desperate for pass rush after last season, but I wouldn’t give up 2x 1sts for Maxx Crosby. He’s dropped off after those injuries, and is almost 29. You may never be getting peak Crosby.

Monson wrote on X

After the trade went through, Crosby uploaded a video as a goodbye message to the Raider Nation. The two-time All-Pro defensive end hinted that he will return to Vegas and retire as a Raider.
