The Cincinnati Bengals had a disappointing year. The team had the best offense in the NFL but one of the worst defenses for most of the season. By the time they regrouped and attempted to make a playoff push, it was too late. Despite the season defeat, Ja’Marr Chase will have something exciting going on for him in the off-season.
That is his contract negotiation with the Cincinnati Bengals. The team was reluctant to offer him big money last off-season because he still had two years left on his deal. Now, Ja’Marr Chase is coming off his best season as a professional. This means that whatever his value was before the season started, he is now worth at least 1.5 times more than that.
Ja’Marr Chase shared his thoughts on his impending extension in an interview with ESPN.
The reporter asked him to elaborate on what counts as ‘fair’ to him.
“I hope I get what’s fair. … Fair is – What I deserve. I can’t really say everything I want to say.”

His statement sends a subtle message to the Bengals’ front office. Chase is not afraid to explore his options if things do not go his way.
Ja’Marr Chase will expect to be paid on par with the likes of CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill
The Bengals have a dilemma in front of them. The offense was the only silver lining this season but both Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase are seeking a big payday and they are not afraid to move on. However, fortunately for both the stars, they have the backing of quarterback Joe Burrow.
The quarterback has made it clear that he wants both of them back in the lineup, and if there is one voice that the Bengals’ franchise will not ignore, it is his. The team will prioritize bringing this duo back and improving their defensive backfield this off-season.
Ja’Marr Chase ended the season with 1,708 yards and 17 touchdowns. The wideout left the competition in the dust. His definition of fair is likely synonymous with the words ‘four-year, $136 million.” That is CeeDee Lamb’s current deal and is second to Justin Jefferson in terms of value amongst wide receiver contracts. Chase deserves to be paid but the question is how will the Bengals be able to facilitate his wishes.
