Another game ended in disappointment for the Cincinnati Bengals despite the best efforts by the offensive line, especially Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Burrow. This marked not only their seventh loss of the season, but also their sixth defeat due to a single possession, raising concerns about their struggle to execute plays effectively.
However, when reporters inquired about the Bengals’ struggle to finish the game, the three-time Pro Bowler receiver was monetarily at a loss of words before shifting the responsibility onto his head coach Zac Taylor.
Despite the Chargers pulling off a 27-6 lead in the third quarter, the Bengals paced up with touchdowns on three straight drives. They could have easily secured the much-needed win if only kicker Evan McPherson hadn’t missed the two field goals allowing the opposing running back J.K. Dobbins the opportunity to score a touchdown in the final 18 seconds of the game.
Ja’Marr Chase didn’t have an answer for why the Bengals can’t finish games.

He did have a potential starting point for that question: Ask Zac Taylor.

The wide receiver’s frustration at this point seems justified, especially since he is having a stellar season, yet his team is struggling with a 4-7 record. On Sunday, he recorded two touchdowns and 75 yards, and he is also leading the league in yards (1,056), touchdowns (12), and receptions (73).
Joe Burrow reflects on disappointing loss despite stellar performance
Despite the standout play by the offense led by quarterback Burrow, the defense sunk their ship, resulting in a 34-27 loss. In the fourth quarter, he made two crucial touchdown throws to Chase on fourth down that turned the game around, allowing his team to tie the score.
In his post-game media interaction, the star quarterback addressed one of the most frustrating moments of his career after the victory slipped away from their grasp.
Cincinnati was known for its ability to close out games, two of which even made it among the most successful victories in NFL history. However, this season, their winning percentage of .143 is marked the lowest in the NFL in one-score games, tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9).
