Since joining the Cleveland Browns this season, Jameis Winston never played against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he certainly knew about the rivalry. He outperformed the AFC North-leading team at 24-19 at the snow-covered track of Huntington Bank Field.

Winston demonstrated his All-Pro skills on Thursday night by helping his team to an early lead, though he faced his share of challenges along the way. In the third quarter, the Browns quarterback found wide receiver Cedric Tillman wide-open past the first down marker on a second-and-7 play. However, as Tillman went to gain additional yards after the catch, he ended up being hit hard and eventually fumbled the ball.

The ball was then recovered by Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson, but he had little chance to return it as he was quickly tackled by the Browns quarterback Winston, who ran down from a 45-yard line of his own to the opposite 25-yard line.

Our guys love playing under the lights. They love playing in front of these fans. Add the snow element, it was pretty cool,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said about the victory, amid the struggling season.

Winston finished the game by completing 18 of his 27 passes for 219 yards and one interception with zero touchdowns. While the quarterback is hardly counted among the top signal-callers in the league, he received great appreciation from commentators on Thursday night for his impressive plays.

Jameis Winston delivers flawless pass despite helmet communication issues

This tackle wasn’t the only impressive play Winston made. In the fourth quarter, he delivered a flawless pass to David Njoku for a successful conversion despite having a broken helmet’s communication device, which he had broken after falling on his head.

When the Browns went for the two-point try, the quarterback was actually getting his helmet fixed by the staff. However, due to the necessity of the play, he went ahead while having the broken device dangling right in front of him. Although he could hear about the 2-point conversation play attempt, he was facing difficulties as well.

Regardless of the obstacle, he went for it and got the job done, resulting in the Browns’ 18-6 lead against the Steelers. The commentators in the broadcasting booth called the star quarterback ‘unstoppable’ on Thursday night.
