Jameis Winston tried a unique method to cut down on throwing interceptions. He practiced celibacy. That’s right, Winston stayed away from performing s*xual activities for a year. It was during the 2019 season. The same year Winston threw for 5000+ yards, 33 touchdowns, and a league high 30 interceptions as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ starting quarterback.
During his guest appearance on the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Winston told hosts Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce that he took some drastic steps to improve his accuracy.
That was a contract year [man]… It was one of the most up-and-down years off the field that I had in my life, too. I had just asked my wife to marry me, and I was doing this freakin’ celibacy thing. [I was] like literally refraining from s*x, man.
Winston and then-fiancée, Breion, began living together with their newborn son. His family members weren’t too thrilled by the development. They called Jameis out for “shackin’ up” before marriage. Winston revealed:
We had to eliminate that. I literally bought a property and was staying away from my house… [It] was so much going on.
Jason was ready with his follow-up. He said as the trio laughed in unison:
Don’t take a blacklight into that [Jamies’] house.

Winston was drafted first overall in the 2015 NFL draft. The Bucs named him the starter, and his first pass was a touchdown—well, sort of. Winston said with a straight face:
It was a Cody Simpson ball, pick-6 on my very first pass. That was my ‘welcome to the NFL moment.
Jameis Winston was asked about his “welcome to the NFL” moment.

The Heisman Trophy winner and BCS (now CFP) champion played five seasons in Tampa before moving to Death Valley to play for the New Orleans Saints. He was on the move once again after four years of backup duty to Drew Brees and Derek Carr.
The Cleveland Browns signed him in 2024, where he finished with a 2-5 record. Ahead of the 2025 season, the Giants agreed to a two-year deal with Winston.
Jameis Winston gives an honest opinion on the Giants’ head coaching search
Enough about parties, let’s shift the focus to something more serious. The Giants need a head coach, but more importantly, they need someone who will come in and install a winning culture.

Winston is looking for a coach who makes confident business decisions and has a strong track record of consistent success. If the Giants don’t find someone who fits that profile, then Winston suggested that John Mara and Joe Schoen should appoint someone completely new.
That being said, he’s on board with the Giants’ pursuit of John Harbaugh, recently fired by the Baltimore Ravens.
You look at his pedigree. He’s won everywhere he’s been… You use the culture, [like] Howie Roseman [Eagles GM]. You use the Brian Burns’s, the Dexter Lawrences’s, myself, and the Andrew Thomas’s. You use those guys, build around and cater to that.
We asked @Jaboowins what he wanted to see in the next Giants Head Coach

John Harbaugh definitely fits this description https://t.co/0pGaBrYrR0 pic.twitter.com/ECfFvnWOmw
Jameis’ wish came true late on Wednesday night. Harbaugh agreed to take the Giants’ job. They haven’t finalized the contract details, but barring a setback, Harbaugh will coach Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, and Winston in 2026.
The Giants fired Brian Daboll ten games into the 2025 season. Daboll’s four-year stint in the Big Apple ended with a 20-40-1 record.
