Jameis Winston signed with the New York Giants, knowing he would be the backup for most of the season. Against the Detroit Lions, he was playing his second game as the starter, as Jaxson Dart stayed in concussion protocol.
In their Week 12 road game, it was an impressive outing, as, barring his interception in the 4th quarter, the veteran quarterback had a good game throwing the ball.
He connected with 2 of his receivers to help his Giants stay in the lead for almost the entire game. That interception led to a goal-line gaffe before time expired that could have helped him notch his first win with the Giants.
With the way he started the 4th quarter, he should have been the one to celebrate, as one of the most entertaining players in the league displayed something fans have not seen from him for a long time.
After helping drive his offense down to the Lions’ 33-yard line, interim head coach Mike Kafka asked Winston to switch positions with wide receiver Gunner Olszewski.
After receiving the ball, Winston handed the ball to Olszewski on an end-around and ran towards the left. The WR managed to evade oncoming defenders and then threw the ball to his QB once he crossed the 1st down.

He came back to create separation, caught the ball, spun around 360 degrees, then ran along the sideline. Then, as Derrick Barnes tried to tackle him, Jameis Winston stiff-armed the linebacker to the ground and galloped into the end zone to score.
Fans lose their minds watching Jameis Winston score touchdown
There are quite a few quarterbacks who are exceptional at running the football. Then there are others who, with the help of creative play calls, confuse defenders to catch passes and score.
Jameis Winston did the latter, but in style, as he spun around, stiff-armed his defender, and then completed the score. Fans were amazed to see the Florida State alum do things elite receivers do. Check out examples of those reactions below:
Broken sack and a broken tackle?!? Easily play of the year. 🔥

Jameis Winston’s score helped the New York Giants take a commanding 10-point lead at the time. If not for their end-of-regulation gaffe, maybe he could have celebrated with his teammates on the way home.
Jameis Winston claims he can play tight end for Giants if needed
In that play, Jameis Winston gave the football world a glimpse of his drive and athletic ability. While speaking with reporters after the game, the Alabama native claimed he could play another position if needed.

I like to consider myself an athlete. I believe that I can make plays like that for this team. If I need to play tight end, I can. I’ll do whatever it is that’s required for this team to have success.

Jameis Winston signed a 2-year, $8 million deal to be the backup quarterback for the New York Giants. Considering how things are with the team, they are unlikely to keep Russell Wilson on next season.

If that happens, it is possible that the father of two could continue backing up Jaxson Dart. Which means the chances of him playing tight end are negligible.
