Ever since Caleb Williams got drafted as the first overall pick, the buzz surrounding him has been distinctively intense. Not only the rookie quarterback is expected to reclaim the contender status of the Chicago Bears, but now his name has been lingering in the MVP conversation.

With his performance in the practice drills and preseason, the rookie quarterback has raised the expectations from him through the roof. While appreciating his wild plays, FOX Sports analyst James Jones made a positive prediction for Williams by saying he will definitely be in the MVP conversation in the coming 2024 season.

He’s gonna be in this MVP conversation. He is going to be in the MVP conversation for a lot of reasons you all just say. You all believe the hype… you know this means what: a really good record, 10-11 wins maybe a little more. He’s got all these playmakers around him, but the wow plays. When quarterbacks win MVPs… it’s the ‘wow plays’ and sometimes it’s not even the stats.
James Jones predicted in a recent episode of FOX Sports’ Speak

Jones firmly claimed that the Bears rookie would impress everyone with his ‘wow plays’ and lead his team to many victories and advance to the playoffs. Though he did acknowledge that the statistics for a rookie to win the Most Valuable Player are relatively quite low, he certainly believes Williams will, at least, be in the conversation.

USC star Caleb Williams draws Patrick Mahomes comparisons

The USC standout seems to be receiving great appreciation across the league. Prior to his name being predicted in the MVP conversation, Williams has been widely compared to the superstar quarterback, Patrick Mahomes. Just like how the latter changed the Kansas City Chiefs’ fate since being drafted, the former is anticipated to do the same in the Windy City.

The bold comparison was first brought up by the star wide receiver Tyreek Hill– who also believes he’s better than the three-time Super Bowl champion. Williams first appreciated the parallels when they reached his ears, he stated that his first priority is the Bears and thus, he isn’t focusing on individual success as much as he is team’s success.

Mahomes’ goal for the coming season is to make history with the first-ever three-peat in the NFL. However, it’s certainly a stretch to expect the rookie to lead his team straight to the Super Bowl next season. At the same time, there’s no doubt he will reclaim their contender status and save fans from witnessing another season fiasco.
