Aaron Rodgers’ ex-teammate James Jones claims there’s nothing Jalen Hurts does better than Dak Prescott except one thing

During the recent debate on Speak, James Jones backed Cam Newton's theory that Dak Prescott is a better quarterback compared to Eagles Jalen Hurts.

Dak Prescott will always be regarded as a quarterback who holds the potential to win everything in football but lacks the killer edge to get the job done. Despite a stellar regular season record, Prescott failed to deliver in the playoffs, leading to analysts repeatedly criticizing his credentials.

On the other hand, Jalen Hurts, who is five years younger and played four fewer seasons than Prescott, already won an NFC Championship game and played in a Super Bowl. Yet former NFL wide receiver and FOX analyst James Jones pointed out that the Cowboys No. 1 QB is better than the Eagles QB barring one quality.

During the recent episode of FS1’s Speak, Jones argued that Dak Prescott is a better quarterback than Jalen Hurts.

Are we talking about the player or [are] we talking [about] the team success? There is nothing that Jalen Hurts does better than Dak Prescott at the quarterback spot but the read option.

It may not thrill the Cowboys nation too much, but they will take any moral victory over the Eagles.

James Jones discloses the thing that Jalen Hurts does better than Dak Prescott

After dropping a massive truth bomb that silenced his colleagues, Jones dissected the two players’ qualities as quarterbacks. He listed only one skill that Hurts possesses that Prescott doesn’t.

He [Jalen Hurts] don't throw better than him [Dak Prescott], he doesn't throw with anticipation better than him. I mean, this dude had 5,000 yards last year, [and] led the NFL in touchdown passes. There is nothing that Jalen Hurts except running the read option and maybe the tush push that he does better than Dak Prescott.

The Eagles Tush-push is undeniably a phenomenon that they use to perfection. Since 2021, Hurts added 22 touchdowns from 1 yard as a quarterback and the next best is former Lions and current Saints running back Jamaal Williams with 15.

Even though the method faced severe criticism from other teams, the NFL decided to allow the Eagles to keep using it.

As James pointed out, that’s the only statistic that Hurts has Prescott beat. Since Hurts made his debut in 2020, he has only won 4 extra games (37) compared to Prescott (33) while playing 12 additional games (Hurts played 62 while Prescott only 50) per StatMuse.

Moreover, Dak Prescott boasts more completions and passing yards, has a considerably better yards-per-game ratio (274.3 to 189.7), threw more passing touchdowns (105 to 67), also crossed the 4,400 passing yards mark three times while Hurts could only manage a best of 3858 yards (2023).
