Aaron Rodgers’ ex-teammate James Jones shockingly claims the QB must win another Super Bowl to be eligible for being in the conversation of a great quarterback

Aaron Rodgers has established himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks to play in the NFL. His four MVP awards are a testament to his elite level of play, however, there is one argument that works against him when speaking of his greatness. That is the fact that he has won just one Super Bowl. The best QBs in the NFL have multiple championships, Tom Brady, Steve Young, Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana.
James Jones, former teammate of Aaron Rodgers, is the latest to call the quarterback out for not having made the Super Bowl in over a decade. The wideout agreed with Kurt Warner‘s recent statements on Jomboy Media’s Football Today Show with Chris Rose wherein the former QB stated that this year, Rodgers must prove his doubters wrong by winning a championship with the New York Jets.
James Jones is of the opinion that Rodgers can be put alongside Peyton Manning and Joe Montana if he wins another ring.
I agree with Kurt Warner. He needs another Super Bowl to put him in the Peyton Mannings, to put him in the Joe Montanas, to put in the Patrick Mahomes, to put him in the elite and greatest quarterback of all time conversation.James Jones shared his thoughts on SPEAK on Thursday night
Winning another Super Bowl would greatly enhance Aaron Rodgers’ legacy
The 2011 Super Bowl was Rodgers’ first and last trip to the Super Bowl. Since then, he has struggled to get back there and win. This year is perhaps his best shot to break his drought and bring a championship to a city that yearns to go back to the Super Bowl. If Rodgers retires without winning another championship, would that diminish his legacy? Absolutely not.
But his name will always have an asterisk next to it when it is brought up in the GOAT conversation. Super Bowls are what define quarterbacks. It is why Tom Brady is revered as the greatest to ever do it. He achieved the remarkable feat seven times. That is not easy. Rodgers has set a lot of records in the NFL that are unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
He is no doubt one of the most winningest QBs to play football, to continually do what he does at an elite level at the age of 40 is remarkable. Even though the quarterback may not be remembered as a Super Bowl champ, his legacy will be that he was one of the most talented players to play quarterback.
There are legends of the game who are still remembered to this day and have won no Super Bowl rings. Take Dan Marino for instance. He is considered one of the greatest QBs ever, even though he did not win a Lombardi Trophy. Rodgers will look to get that second ring this season as he returns from his Achilles injury to play for the Jets.
