Los Angeles Lakers legend James Worthy has been garnering a lot of attention recently for all the unwanted reasons. Worthy made headlines after he was caught slandering the Lakers governor Jeanie Buss and GM Rob Pelinka on a hot mic after JJ Redick‘s introductory press conference. Worthy’s statements created havoc amongst the NBA community on social media.

Not only that, Worthy was also caught trashing LeBron James‘ son Bronny James to a live audience along with his co-hosts on Spectrum SportsNet. It was overheard that Worthy’s co-host was disappointed that this would be their 3rd  coaches’ unveiling in 5 seasons. Following that, Worthy took a shot at Bronny, who is most likely going to be selected by the Lakers as the 55th choice in the Draft.

Worthy also spoke about the Boston Celtics winning the title, while aiming jabs at Buss and Pelinka for trading important players along the way.

In addition, this may be one of the most embarrassing situations Worthy has put himself in. Over the years Worthy has always spoken good of his former franchise and for him to be so dismissive of the Lakers came as a surprise to the NBA community.

This was not the first time James Worthy went in hard on the Lakers

James Worthy is one of the best players to play for the Los Angeles Lakers back in his time, earning the title of “Legend” for the declared franchise. However, Worthy once went all out on the Lakers after their embarrassing losing streak in the 2023-24 NBA season on the Spectrum SportsNet show.

Worthy claimed that the Lakers are ’embarrassing’ and was lost for words after watching them play.

The Lakers had no answer for the effort, the energy. They got stagnant, the ball didn't move. And you could just feel it and see it on their faces. They just didn't have what it took to compete with them. I don't know what's going with this team right now....It's embarrassing.

On the contrary, the Lakers were abysmal this 2023-24 NBA season. Their star players LeBron James and Anthony Davis had a rough season, resulting in poor losses to their side. In addition, despite making the NBA Playoffs, they were knocked out quite early which made their 2023-24 season a major ‘flop.’
