With Josh Reynolds no longer with the Detroit Lions, Jameson Williams is expected to step up as the wide receiver No. 2 for Dan Campbell’s side. However, his recent social media activity hints that he may be feeling the pressure.

Williams will be entering his third season with the Lions. In the past two campaigns, he primarily played as a backup to Amon Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds.

Williams played in 12 games, including the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. He recorded 24 receptions for 354 yards and 2 touchdowns. These aren’t the flashiest of numbers, but it will improve with more snaps under his belt.

On Thursday, following the final day of week 1 OTAs, Williams spoke with Eric Woodyard of ESPN. He revealed that the third year would be crucial and feels confident that he was injury-free.

My mind says to do better than last year. I have been putting in the work since the [last] season ended so I feel good.

However, the Detroit Free Press revealed that the Alabama graduate’s first week of OTAs was a mixed bag. Perhaps that’s why he hinted on social media that all was not okay for him.

I must be living in fu***g Hell right now. I gota be.

It does raise several questions because after yesterday’s practice, coach Campbell spoke highly of Williams.

Dan Campbell revealed Jameson Williams was the most improved player in the OTAs

Campbell knows 2024 will be an important make-or-break year for Williams. It will either be his breakout campaign or he will stay under the shadows of St. Brown.

Since the Lions’ offseason training program began, Campbell noticed improvement in Williams.

If you said, 'Give me one player who is the most improved from that start to finish over that time?' Jamo [Jameson Williams] is that guy right now. He is a man on a mission and I'm just going to leave it at that.

Williams has been running routes against cornerback Carlton Davis III. These two are familiar with each other’s game. They met twice in the divisional playoff game when Davis played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Williams had only 2 catches for 35 yards. The veteran defensive back may have been giving him a ’hell’ of a time in practice.
