Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher took a furious dig at Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for his poor display against the Reds. The former player urged the Blues to get a new keeper, after Sanchez gave away a ‘poor’ Liverpool winner.
Curtis Jones sealed the match for the home side by scoring a 51st minute winner against Chelsea. Apart from the second-half strike, the 23-year-old Liverpool midfielder also won a penalty in the first half, which was converted by Mohamed Salah. Chelsea shot-stopper Robert Sanchez was at fault for the club’s defeat, as he failed to judge a cross toward the Chelsea box, ultimately leading to Jones’ goal in a 1-v-1 situation. He also narrowly missed out on conceding a penalty, after a clumsy challenge on Jones.
Jamie Carragher criticized Sanchez’s performance between the sticks, as he labelled the 26-year-old’s display as ‘poor’. He stated that the keeper should have been more commanding and should have run towards the ball and won it, during the 1-v-1 situation with Curtis Jones.
Moreover, he urged the Blues to sign a new goalkeeper, in order to return back to their glorious past. He also claimed that Sanchez was ‘scared of getting hit by the ball’, while pointing to Chelsea’s precarious goalkeeping situation.

Not just the Spaniard, Carragher also took a dig at Chelsea skipper Reece James for his lethargic display against Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether Sanchez retains his number one spot, with Chelsea having alternative goalkeeping options in Filip Jorgensen and Lucas Bergstrom.
Jamie Carragher makes surprising Liverpool transfer admission
Jamie Carragher made a surprising admission following Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones’ brilliant display against Chelsea, scoring the winner in a 2-1 victory. The former Reds defender expressed belief that the club does not need to sign Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi.
Curtis Jones repaid Arne Slot’s faith in him, after being given an opportunity to start against Chelsea in Alexis Mac Allister’s absence. The 23-year-old scored his first goal of the season, as Carragher praised his brilliance, despite acknowledging his third-choice midfielder status.
Moreover, he also stated that the Reds should not pursue Zubimendi, backing Jones and others to keep playing at their highest level.

The Reds had attempted to sign the Spanish midfielder in the summer after a brilliant domestic season, as well as a splendid outing with the national team at the 2024 Euros. However, Zubimendi refused to join the club, staying back at Real Sociedad.
