Kai Asakura thinks taking the flyweight title from Alexandre Pantoja won’t upset UFC brass. The duo meet at the UFC 310 Pay-per-view (PPV) event headliner at the T-Mobile Arena, for which, the newcomer is keeping some well-thought-out violent intentions.

In the past, the men’s 125lb division has been something of an annoyance to the governing UFC brass. They have tried to get rid of it in the past, but it seems to be as healthy as ever at the moment. Alexandre Pantoja leads the charge as the animalistic well-rounded “Cannibal” and kingpin of the division. But when Asakura makes the walk at UFC 310 main card on payy-per-view, 10 p.m. ET, he’ll have some advantages.

My advantage over Pantoja – is that I can finish him in one shot…So if he even makes one mistake, I’m confident that I can KO him in once shot

At 21-4-0, RIZIN’s last bantamweight titleholder Kai Asakura is no mere PPV blimp. He’s a proper KO artist and could prove to be a perfect challenge against Pantoja. Consequently, it’s proven that the berserker Pantoja can be weathered if someone goes skill-for-skill against him. Though Pantoja has beaten the best in the division – some twice – Asakura believes he has something unique to offer.

Asakura, 31, has won almost 80 percent of his career wins by stoppage. He’ll have his work cut out for him against Pantoja, who has never been stopped inside the distance in his 33-fight career. He also has had highlight wins over stout names like Manel Kape, Brandon Moreno, and Brandon Royval. Other than his prowess though, there’s another reason why the Japanese flyweight thinks he’s getting a gold in his debut opportunity.

Kai Asakura: Championship victory against Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 310 is ‘good business for the UFC’

For a talent pool where stars steal the show starting from crisp bantamweight sluggers, the 125 class sometimes faces flak for not being headlining material. However, recent times have seen just how violently delightful it can get. Pantoja (28-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC) leads the roost for what he is hoping to be a proper pay-per-view (PPV) delight.

Alexandre Pantoja is worth his weight in gold, and then some. His December 7 showdown with Asakura (21-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) in Las Vegas could prove a pure striking clinic like none. Even so, there is always room for bigger and better things to come. There’s another reason why former RIZIN FF champ Kai Asakura thinks he’s getting a title opportunity early on.

Let’s be honest: It’s good business for the UFC if I win, …I’m here to make it exciting, for people to have interest in the flyweight division and have a whole bunch of new matchups ready to have on future shows

Asakura counts the days until he can make his first mark inside the octagon and win gold. Ready to be the company’s poster boy, the Team Tri-Force MMA fighter predicts it won’t be long before the powers that be realize this. UFC 310 could just be the start.
