While the draft spotlight was primarily on first-overall pick Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels truly shone during the regular season, leading his team to the playoffs with an impressive 12-5 record. And his upcoming opponent Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions has nothing but respect for the rookie.
The Washington Commanders star rookie is all anyone can talk about these days as he clinched a solid 23-20 win in the Wild-Card round of playoffs– marking the team’s first postseason win in 19 years. As they advanced to the divisional round, they had a big challenge of facing the NFC North-champion Lions.
Ahead of the thrilling matchup, the Lions’ star quarterback addressed the media and when asked about his young opponent for the next match, he sounded genuinely impressed with the commendable season he have had. Compared to Daniels, the 2016 first-pick struggled with a lot of hardship in his rookie year, which gives him a deeper understanding of the difficulties involved in achieving what Daniels has accomplished.

With that being said, the Lions aren’t taking the upcoming match any lightly as the four-time Pro Bowler said he is excited to see how Daniels-led Commanders process and strategize on the field.
Dan Campbell acknowledges threat of rookie QB Jayden Daniels
Quarterback Goff isn’t the only one singing praises of Daniels, his head coach Dan Campbell admitted to the media on Monday that the young quarterback is “dangerous.” With strong weapons led by wide receiver Terry McLaurin, the Commanders rookie poses a significant threat to the Lions’ defense which Campbell understands quite well.
While outlining the challenge of facing the Commanders’ powerful offensive line, he praised the rookie by calling him a “difference maker.” In his debut season in the league, he posted 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns with a 69% completion rate.
