There’s a saying, ‘If you want to be the best, then you have to beat the best,’ and for Jared Verse, his predecessor at the Los Angeles Rams was among, if not the best, pass rushers to play football, Aaron Donald. Donald wasn’t only a master at his craft, but also worked extremely hard in the gym to be in peak physical condition, even after retiring from football.
Verse, who won the rookie defensive player of the year award in 2024, challenged Donald to work out with him for one day while appearing on the Adam Schefter podcast.
[Aaron Donald is] not ready for that. That little 500 bench he had. He’s not ready for that. I’ll be moving weight. Whenever he’s ready for a workout, I’ll be seeing his little Instagram posts, the dumbbell benches. He can get at me whenever he’s ready.

Donald responded quickly to Verse’s challenge. The Super Bowl winner invited Verse to his house for a workout session.
I’m lookin’ for you! Come to the house. I just want to talk. I just want to talk. That’s it. Nothing much, big dog. Just a little conversation.

Aaron Donald schooled Jared Verse
Fans eagerly waited for the workout video to drop. On Friday, Verse shared a video on his Instagram.

Verse sat with a defeated grin on his face while Donald continued doing push-ups using dumbbells.
I tried to test a legend.. in Aaron Donald. And he responded with a workout from h*ll. Learned my lesson. Respect OG.
Verse’s teammates saw the video and gave their take. Fellow defensive end Kobie Turner wrote, “I been waiting all day for this.” Wide receiver Tutu Atwell wrote, “Look tired my boy.”
Quentin Lake, Bobby Brown III, Derion Kendrick, Torry Holt, and Coby Durant joined in on the fun. Former Eagles, Bills, and Chiefs running back and Donald’s good friend LeSean McCoy left laughing emojis, similar to Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson.
However, amidst all of the friendly banter, Donald received another invitation for a one-on-one training session. It came from Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons.“I think ima come next!!”
Two powerhouses going against each other may turn out to be a big spectacle if it ever happens. Donald hardly ever backs out of a challenge; Geno Smith knows that, and now Verse understands that, too.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford once shared an interesting story about Donald’s extreme workout routine. While appearing on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast, Stafford revealed that a cancer survivor wanted to work out with the three-time NFL DPOY.
I’m walking by like, ‘What is about to happen?’ I’m over there doing banded or something. And 30 minutes in, and AD [Aaron Donald] is ripping curls—next thing you know, this kid is puking in the trash can in the hallway. I’m like, ‘AD, can you please have a little couth, a little understanding?’ It was unbelievable.
